LOL what have i started, i have just read posts on here about the Anarchy thats been going on and with a slightly sarcastic reply i got i metioned it thats all, perhaps i was wrong.
Thanks for your opinions Nige i was'nt being funny or anything.

SteveC - I'm not very very wrong i'm very very right, I had a Sei sporting which i modified loads and most of the work was done by me. When you start ripping the car apart and changing bits you get to see the crappy build quality you wonder what you paid all those £££££'s for, together with the teething problems my car had and the amount all Fiats depreciate by, i will never buy a Fiat again.
I have seen the light and its from the Land of the rising sun...
Sorry Nige :D

p.s Am i still a top bloke???? :D

Did have a very modded Sei then a Impreza RB5, Err and now got a Honda Civic Type-R

Cento as long as you keep posting and helping out here you're a top bloke.:D:D

Can't comment on Jap cars as I can't remember ever having driven one.

I do know that I have never had a car yet that didn't make me want to drive it off a cliff at some time. ;)

Really enjoying my marea at the moment though.:D

LONG LIVE FIAT!

You people that buy silly Japanese cars...
I will say you have infinitely more taste than those nutters who can't drive that buy a certain blue oval car....

I'll admit Japanese cars do have the reliability factor, I'll admit that some Jap cars are well built.
I will NOT ever say that they are fun to drive ; Stylish or ITALIAN!!

I have driven Mazda's ; Hondas and Toyotas...

I have even driven the new Mazda 6 !
All those cars were nice, but compared to my Stilo.... they were nothing...

I don't care about depreciation - all makes of cars depreciate as soon as you drive em off the forecourt (I wouldn't be buying a brand new car if i did care!) Plus for all these people saying that Fiats depreciate big time - please check the back of AutoExpress or any other respectable car mag... My JTD has a retainment value of 34% after 3 years
the equivalent Ford Focus Diesel Meccano Edition has a retained value of 34%!

And these Focus poo's are meant to be all hale wonderful cars and the Car Reviewers thoughts on the Stilo is not the true interpretation...
So a.) How can FORD sell a car for £16,000 with hardly any equipment apart from 17" Wheels and say it is a good car and you ought to buy it when you spend £500 less you can top pretty close to TOP SPEC STILO DIESEL which
- Has better fuel economy
- does 0-60 in 10.3 (FORD's 0-60 is ehem 12.4)

- is TOP SPEC!!!
- Is waaaay more stylish and waay bigger passenger wise...

- Isn't made of meccano!!

IS ITALIAN!!!

Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Multijet vs the Honda Accord 2.0 CDTi

What can i say? Just look at the facts...

Performance wise - Alfa Wins
Style Wise - Alfa Wins (Mind you I do like the Accord!)
Economy Wise - Honda wins! 42mpg to 51mpg!

2 - 1

I have a 2 year old punto sporting. I like the look of my car, turns heads everywhere and the amount of comments on how stylish the car looks inside and outside has been unbelievable!

Yes I enjoy the comments on my car, but not as much as driving my mates 300Bhp evo up the quarter mile strip, tanning the arse off civics, fiat coupe's, imprezas. Anything.

When he throws it into corners at speeds you wouldn't believe and come ot the other end laughing at how much he just pissed all over a hairpin at 50 - theres no better buzz in my opinion.

Oh, It's an evo 1, 10 years old, cost him £6500 and am sure he gives a toss about sat nav (which I have) when he's dissapearing in a cloud of dust and turbo whoosh.

Its as reliable as you get (and anyone who says jap aint is havin a laugh as with his and all my other mates who own jap, I have had more problems with my punto in the last month than they have had in a year with theirs put together). My car is worth nearly 12 grand new. 2 years on, its worth under 6.

Insurance is s**t (If i wasnt 21, qouted £2600 for insurance, I would have an evo), fuel consumption is too, and I dont think parts are too cheap either. But that all weighs up well against what he can actually do in the car.

But hey, this is my opinion, and I totally agree everyone is more than entitled to there own - and everyones take on what a car is for and what it aint is fine.

But al be honest.........

Am I a jap car driver wannabe????

Yer damn right. And I aint embarrassed to kid on I aint.

*Sigh* but my punto will have to do for the moment i suppose :D

Evos are exactly stylish cars though.....
They are wanted for there performance value....

If you want Style and Performance go for an Alfa 156 3.2 V6 GTA or await the arrival of the 4x4 version...

Or you could go for the AutoDelta 3.6 Litre V6 Version....

But thats me I put style over performance but when you can have both its a dream come true!

I would like the Alfa GT when it comes out shortly....

whatcha reckon?

I loved driving the Civic Type R but I love driving my Cinq too (when it runs! ;))

If I had the cash I would have a Type R, but I dont. I can afford my little Cinq and love it so (when it runs! ;))

ITs a fair point you make Mulge - a 10 year old car for £6,500. I had an 11 year old TWR XJR-S 6.0 V12 that I bought for a mere £4,500 and that had 380BHP at the rear wheels and in a straight line would indeed leave most new cars maybe under £100k behind it up to its restricted 158mph. However, it was an 11 year old car and therefore required a LOT of maintenance to keep it in top condition. It doesnt matter what country the car is made in - at that age rubber bushes need replacing! It was not to everyones taste either!!!!
In the end it frightened me so much I sold it and bought the Barchetta - now there IS £4,500 of FUN! But again, its an old car and suffers from the creaks of age, as ALL cars do.
So, you have to make compromises, do you want a modern car under warranty and cheap to run or for the same money want a 300+ BHP moonstar and run the gauntlet!
I'm certainly lucky as I can do both (I am on old git and can afford the insurance!).
One last thing, if you insured something such as a 10 year old TVR under a classic car scheme you will be surprised how cheap it is.....

jetweed - I agree mate (apart from that they aint stylish)- we all are striving for that car that combines speed, style (and 100 mpg!!!!)

But, to be honest, never been into them - Sorry mate.

All comes down to individual taste i suppose and the alfa's just dont do it for me. They are nice cars to look at just as all italian cars seem to be, but I look at cars purely from a driving point of view. If it's fast, handles well and still is comfortable to drive while looking the mutts nuts its the all round perfect car, and in my opinion the evo 6 has everything mentioned. Of course you are going to sacrifice some things for all of the above - i.e. insurance, fuel - but lets be honest, if you can afford an evo 6 then these attributes wouldnt really be much of a problem would they???

Nige.... 6.0 v12???? .... mmmmmmmmmmmm how good must that have sounded!!!!! Thats monster truck material!!![:0]

The day to day maintenance can be a killer on old cars (I drove my mums 13 year old nova for the last 4 years and its only been having enough done to it for it to scrape through the M.O.T.) But for a 13 year old car - which still seems to start 1st time in any weather and get my mum a mile a day to work and back she is more than happy to pay for that.

As you's said, it all comes down to what you want to use it for. The nova's perfect for my mums needs, the alfa's or punto may be enough to satisfy most peoples needs, but not mines unfortunately:)

Back to the original topic though - as much as the type r seems to be a crackin mota, I would defo not be parting with 15-16 grand of my hard earned cash for it. To me, it borders on a really good car, but not just quite making it, missing out on something I just cant figure.

But heh, as my dad said - I'm evo in the head (he may have a point) but a final thought, we're mentioning all these cars, evo's, type r's v6 this an that - but the one I'm looking forward to seeing is the new focus cosworth. 300 brake, 4 wheel drive matched to the focus rally chassis????

Evo conquerer??

FORD FOCUS COSWORTH????

IS IT ME OR IS THIS A FORD FORUM ?([:0])

CAN THIS BE BIG BROTHER FOR A SECOND AND CAN WE EVICT PEOPLE?? :D

OR MAYBE THE WEAKEST LINK...

IF YOUR A FORDY MECCANO LOVER THEN SOMETHINGS SERIOUSLY WRONG....

(IN MY OPINION!)

I think when you typed Ford Focus Cosworth I think you meant to type
147 GTAM AUTODELTA (3.6 V6 JTS 340bhp, 4wd, late 2005)

Yes of course you did... its people with taste that come onto this website and like all italian cars....

Silly me you had me thinking you liked ford for a second there...

Ok...Ok......

I understand.....

A fiat forum it may be.... are we not entitled to give opinions on cars which dont hold the fiat brand as well.... is this board as small minded as that???

When every car magazine I have read, every review on the net I have found and every well respected person in the motoring industry is excited over this car then to me, surely something awesome is in the pipeline.

I aint pretending to be stuck in a 1 dimensional world here where I like one or two brands of cars and are ignorant to a good car when I see (or here of) one.

Well actually - I must be, coz I aint even heard of the 147 GTAM AUTODELTA (3.6 V6 JTS 340bhp, 4wd, late 2005).:I

Sad state of affairs when you get slated for liking a car which aint alfa or fiat.... One by the way, which al bet my punto on, will be feckin awesome.

its people with taste that come onto this website and like all italian cars

I like ferraris, lambo's, some fiat (I did spend 6 and a half grand on one). But coz I like a non italian car - I aint got taste??? hmmmm - OK.

Is it just me then who wouldnt mind a 300 brake 4 wheel drive rally bred car??? I will happily stand in the corner for my view on this. (dunno about washing the mouth out carry on right enough - would prob lose half my vocabulary)

I sense some people wearing italian only blinkers here. But hey...maybe I'm in the wrong place......

Well, anyway...need to go, Focus-wannabe-owners-club.com forum needs me...:D

Blinkers moi - nah Tunnel vision! I just hate fast F0rd5 only for the w**kers that drive them. I just remember Capri 2.8i's, XR2's, XR3's, Escort RS Cosworths (the old equivalent of the Focus version maybe??) and Sierra Cosworths - Gary's, Barry's and Kevin's, Big gold earrings, shell suits and driving up and down. Thats what happens to fast Fords and they aint ever going to get away from that image now! :D

lol, ironically, have seen 5 sierra cossies in last 4 weeks or so, (5 different ones that is), guess where i saw every single one of them.... in mac d's car park :p

this is a forum for fiat yes, but like someone has already asked, are we that narrowminded to accept only fiat? i have a cinquecento which i love to bits, even though it has been fraped around and not looked after by last owner (1 lady owner from new) i would not swap it for anything else in the same budget, what else is a 1.1 for just over a grand which will make you smile half as much as the cinq? nothing, which is why i got my cinq, if i had 16k burning a hole in my pocket for a car i would have a type r or a mini cooper s. yes even a german car [] but at the end of the day its up to the person who is choosing the car, and what they want it for? do they want good mpg? or do they want a grin like a chesire cat? me, i want both for a low price, hence my cinq :)

Cinquecento Sporting,
and yes it is indeed Broom Yellow \o/

When I was a lad I wanted nothing more in the world than a Sierra Cosworth.

I had a toy one and I was the coolest six year old in the playground!

I would still like an original, unspoilt early example in white, but ones like this are thin on the ground now and cost a bomb.

That and the insurance, oh well, pipe dreams. Anyways, given other factors, I'd still rather a mk2 punt sporting next :)

Spirito di Punto | M-reg 55SX, black, 5dr. Clear repeaters. I'm fitting remote locking this week!!

mmm... boyhood dreams, forgetting the impossible 'E' Type and DB5, it was an original mk1 escort with full rally kit, and then the saab 90 rally came along with those angular wheel arches.

You wouldn't believe the number of dustbin lids that got cut in half and stuck onto the sides of cars. Mind you 21" inch flares and curly perms were in fashion as well. :I;)
