hello every1, just visiting from the fiat coupe forum and noticed with interest your appreciation of the civic type r. Pretty good but if you wanna keep it fiat and spank some jap arse then you need o take a spin in a 20v turbo coupe. Mines 5yrs old and If I'm correct, it's still the fastest production car fiat have ever made so get looking!

What is going on??

To any of you who are liking the Type Rse, it has a major problem with its steering (it veers to the left!)

You call that reliable?

btw you pay £16,000 for a shed that doesn't have much kit?

When you can pay £16,000 for a Stilo Abarth which is the works - admittedly not quite as fast...
But you get Leather ; Sat nav and Zenon Headlights and a load of sensors AND NINE AIRBAGS!

Btw if you treat FIATS well they will return you with the same respect..

The JTD is such a superb engine too!

I think we should all campaign to FIAT to release a proper Abarth Engine.... I see where the current Abarth fits in with being the Soft Version and the Alfa 147 GTA being the Hardcore option...
but come on Fiat, your competitors are FORD & SEAT
You can crush them into the crowd...

Just because you own Alfa Romeo doesn't mean you can't compete with them aswell..
if you compete with your own things get tougher so your products get better and more innovative...

Err Japanese cars are well known for their reliability something Fiat cars lack.
The steering pulling to the left??
Where you you here that?? The Type-R tramlines as it has 205 width tyres with an electronic steering rack and very hard suspension

I agree the Stilo will be more packed out with goodies than the Type-R for the same price, but the Type-R which is far from being a shed is'nt meant to be stacked out with Sat Nav, Leather and umpteen useless airbags as its a Hot Hatch not a luke warm hatch like the Stilo.
The Type-R's are basically a race car for the road as the Type-R engines are blueprinted thats why they produce so much power for what they are.

Btw if you treat FIATS well they will return you with the same respect..

There seems to be a lot of anti Jap car peeps on here, all i can say is that i'm glad i went Jap and i will never buy a Fiat ever again as the Jap cars are in my opinion are far better in many ways.
Oh and after 3 years my Type-R won't have lost that much value where as your Stilo like most Fiats would have lost around 40% of its value through depreciation

I have owned a Honda Accord EX (It was a long time ago) and more recently a Nissan 200SX Turbo. The latter was very quick - quicker than the Civic Type R but one thing that thay all lack is verve. They do everything you want them to do but without penache. Sorry, but that my opinion from experience (I had the 200 SX for 2 years and did 90,000 miles in it). I bet you wont want keep it for more than a two years - if you can afford to change it that is, which is a bit of a hazard when buying a new car on finance.
Thats why I run Fiats and Alfa's as they are interesting and the Alfa always generates interest. Mention you drive a Honda or a Nissan and people wander off to talk to someone else about the weather! And the styling (is that the word to use) of the Civic just leaves anyone but Mr Wonder and Mr Charles either tittering or bored - its 'orrible mate!
Oh well, off to polish me Zimmer and clean me pipe.

I agree the Civic looks like a mini MPV but i'm very happy with the decision so there

My original plan with the Impreza RB5 and now the Type-R is to keep it for two/three years then sell it and use the money as part deposit towards a house, Finance what the hells that not me mate cold hard cash is what i use

This forum is'nt what it used to be anymore, theres a lot of bitching going on by the looks of it, not just this topic either, its a shame, it used to be a good forum.

I'd agree on that, and everything against FIAT, i want rid of my car soon as! I hate it so much i am actually considering selling it now, and bussing to work for 6 months while i save for something better. The guy who said driving is fun clearly hasn't drove my Cinq

But how many owners did your car have? a previous owner may have cause a lot of problems with your cinq before you got it. therefore, not Fiat's fault?

Why is the so many comments about bitchin and anarchy on this forum - theres f**k all! If someone puts a post on asking for opinions on what they have bought, done to their car, driven etc they are going to get just that - peoples opinions.

Then when the opinion doesnt meet their own they call it bitching - ffs, if you cant take being told you are a prick for cutting off your front wings and putting 24" wheel on your Cinq then dont ask for opinion!

No-one here said you were a ciint for buying the Civic, but there were a number of people voicing what they thought about it - just like meeee

So if this is as bad as it gets, let the bitchin and anarchy continue, just learn not to post something that will result in you being on the end of it - I just get complaints about my opinion, which is fine as it shows people are ready to put their point across and not everyone has the same views.

Shame to see you go though Cento, you are a top bloke - there you go theres another opinion to be slated for

Italian all the way. This is a Fiat forum. I suggest those that want to criticise Fiats do it elsewhere.

Fair enough, that's your opinion. You are very very wrong and I think at some point in the future you'll realise that. Don't forget though that many of us here are Italian car enthusiasts and view this sort of talk as nonsense. I've owned Jap cars and if you're expecting a rewarding ownership experience you'll be sorely dissapointed. Even the Type R lacks soul and charisma. It's a fine car, it's quick, but it's dull and IMO can't compare to an Alfa 147 GTA for example.
