Halogen or Blue white bulbs?

Which bulbs are the ones on a new Punto? Those ones that have a different tint when looking at different angles? Purple and blue etc...

Also, on new Mercs and BM's, do they have the blue tinted bulbs?

Matt

Don't know whats in new punto but Mercs and BM's have sonething special i can't remember what.

I got some rainbow tints of ebay 5 for 2 they look good but not no brighter than standard except in fog you can see better with them.
I've got xenon bulbs from a shop in my mk1 punto 13 for 2 they are brill really are a lot brighter and pure white light.:)
I've tried 130w/90w that are for off road only realy, they were good on dipbeam but theres not enough power in the car to make them work on fullbeam so were crap on fullbeam worse than standard.

Blue lights are for show rather than performance, even the road legal ones. Show blues are usually higher wattage to make up for their poor performance, but that hammers the electrics on small cars.

If you want performance then go for a super or ultra bright xenon.

I am going to fit 'Ring'Ultra Xenon in my heads and Ice Blues in my side and spot lights. What do you think?

I think the new big cars use HID gas discharge lamps?

I never use just sidelights and so was looking to use them to add a bit of blue to the headlights, if you get my drift.

If Ring sides are out how about Philips BlueVision sides or...?

Problem is, the Ring ice blue ones don't add blue at all, they are rubbish. Ring silver enigma indicator bulbs are absolutely garbage too, don't do what it says on the pack. 16 a pair too - went back to the shop and spoke in raised tones to the bloke until he 'offered' a refund.

If you want blue tinted lights, go for the Prism coloured bulbs, the ones that say 'for interior use only'. They really do add blue to the lights. You can always lightly emery a bit of the colour off the bulbs if it's too blue for you.

Sounds too good to be true. If I was being cynical I would say that he had got hold of a suspect batch and was using shipping insurance to weed out the bad ones.
I will do a search for them elsewhere to see if they are as good as the write up.
Cheers,
Dave

Re: Halogen or Blue white bulbs?

If you want the best plug and play bulbs on the market then go for the PIAA plasa spark blue/white bulbs. i got them on my punto MK2 and they give the closet look to expensive HID systems. gives out a gorjus cystal clear blue white light. they sell em on ebay.

Re: Halogen or Blue white bulbs?

so what is the difference between HID and Twin-optic lights? they both have the glass ball thingy in them. I want the zennon effect in *my* barchetta. Will I have to go and rip apart some lights from a car with HID from scrappie?
