Hi all
I'm currently working on my Fiat but I have encountered a problem when it comes to fitting the rear handbrake cable into the back plate. The clips I had were disintegrated with age and wear and I have found it very difficult to source some new ones. Please advise or is it possible to use a different clip to hold it in place? If so what type would you recommend please?

Please post a photo of the problem I don't know which clips you cannot find.

Have a look at the part diagram for you hand brake components on www.fiatdalys.lt

It looks similar to this one which is for a Ford.I can't show the originals as they have disintegrated. It holds the brake cable into the back plate.

Ah yes I know what you mean now.

The clips if fitted are not shown separately on the fiat part system.

Can you use a zip tie to firmly hold the cable outer to the suspension arm therefore holding it in place?

I could temporarily maybe. The new handbrake cables haven't come with anything like the clip I need. I've looked all over and no one seems to have them. Can use some sort of split spring clip instead?

Often on other manufacturers the cable outer ferule is just an interference fit in the back plate hole.

Hi , I wrote a reply but it doesn't appear.

Anyway the 500 is a different body on a panda as is the ford ka.

So you could try the ford ka clips and see if they work.

Let us know please.

Thanks for your help, I finally managed to get two, however I thought it was part of a complete set of springs etc, for the brakes shoes, and all it was, was the two little handbrake cables securing clips, at the price, of £24 .95 , main dealer only...who got a few choice word's from myself, I was expecting around a pound each at the most..... so be warned folks, they are not cheap ?*

They look identical to the ford ones which are available individually but they are pricy too.

Thanks for the update.

It will help others.
