I can't figure out what the difference between these two motors.

The 182A4.000 is 103HP and the 182A6.000 is 90HP but they both seem to be identical as far as displacement (1581), bore (86.4), stroke (67.4), compression (10.2), etc.

These engines come in the Fiat Brava (1995-2000); Fiat Bravo(1995-2000); Fiat Marea (1995-2000); Fiat Multipla (1998-2000); Lancia Dedra 16V (1996-1999); Lancia Delta 16V (1994-1999); and Lancia Lybra 16V (1999-2001)

Is there something that I'm missing or is it just a cam change or chip change?

Thanks

Could you list which engine number relates to which model? Like you suggest re the cam or chip, I would think it would be a state of tune.

Both the 182A4.000 (103HP) and the 182A6.000 (90HP) come in all of these models. I thought it might be cat and non-cat but that's not it either.

There must be some difference but I don't know what it is.

Engines listed for Bravo/a:

182.B2.000 1.2 16V
182.A3.000 1.4 12V
182.A4.000 1.6 16V
182.A2.000 1.8 16V

Can't find the 182.A6.000 listed anywhere, where did you get the info?
It's not the old 8v 1.6 from the Punto, is it? (edit: Nah, that's a 176A9.000)

edit 2: you're not in the Uk, are you, D'oh.
Googling it finds it fitted to the Bravo/a 1.6 16v EL. It may be a low compression or low emissions version of the engine. Might be as simple as cams and chip, could be pistons too.

Simple answer is only software. It was regulation mainly for Germany that those cars were too powerfull & makes more polution. So they only change hi rev map, so from 4500rpm it´s more "economical".

In praxis, 66 vs 76kw engines have the same torgue, so you don´t feel lack of power.

Physically, all components are the same.
