Trying to get my 2004 2.0 Jtd (Dynamic) aircon working. Have found one pipe that has rubbed through where it passes over the gearbox. Fiat want £360 for the pipe - but no UK stock at present. Can't afford that for 16 year old van.

Can anyone - perhaps someone who works for dealer, Fiat, etc can tell me the part number so I can see if I can get a new one cheaper? It's part number 1 on the attached image - runs from condenser to compressor.

Or maybe someone knows of somewhere I can get one? Would be really grateful for any help.

Are you sure that the pipe you want is pipe number 1..

you describe it as going "over the gearbox" but pipe 1 goes from the compressor at the front of the engine to the condenser which is in front of the radiator. so that whole pipe is forward of the gearbox.
Dragon Man might be the person to ask at the moment as he has just been fitting a secondhand aircon set up to a Citroen/Scudo van and so there might be plenty of spares about in old taxis and people carriers even from other manufacturers which are the same

I see two different part numbers listed:

1481984080
1496609080

Without a chassis/VIN number it is not possible to be more accurate.

Sorry and thanks S130, I was told wrong by the garage. It's actually long pipe number 2 on diagram.

Thanks Andy.Yes, you're right. Was given wrong info. It's the long pipe number 2 on diagram that's needed.

And correct again about John Dragon on the Scudo, Expert, Dispatch forum. He has been helping me with my a/c problems on the forum. He dropped into the taxi breakers and unfortunately they've had a clearout. Nothing suitable. Small world!

That pipe is: P/N:1480015080 and the £360 quoted by your garage is about right as this listing below is from 2014. I would be looking to get the pipe repaired.

Note: P/N:1480015080 replaced P/N:1482508080 in April 2009. No reasons are really ever given for replacement part numbers. Could be just a manufacturer/sourcing change. Probably worth looking for the replaced P/N as this will be old stock and the same as currently fitted.

I take it.. its a chain of :

Union..steel tube..rubber hose..steel tube.. rubber hose..steel tube .. union

And a rubber section has worn through..

Take the whole chain to a hydraulics place

They have hose.. crimps..etc and should be sub £50 ;)

Do let us know what you find

Charlie

What Charlie said, if it’s a rubber part that has broken you may be able to get the rubber section replaced fairly cheaply but a hydraulic hose specialist.

Have you searched eBay for the part and also for anyone breaking vans, so often people will advertise they are breaking vehicles with all parts available which people don’t look for and therefore don’t know that the parts are out there and ready to go

Thanks for all the replies. Even with the part no can't find affordable new pipe. Some s/hand ones out there but in Europe. Decided to get a new rubber section crimped into my pipe.
