recently found a 1981 Turbo Spider stored in a barn since the late 90s. Turn out to be a solid , running and driving zero rust car with a great interior, 60k miles. The exhaust was shot from the catalytic converter back. To get it on the road prior to deciding how far to restore I eliminated the cat and ran a straight pipe back over the axle and into a 22 inch cherry bomb glass pack muffler. Cheap investment but the car now sounds like a motor boat. Any suggestions on a reasonable muffler that I can replace the cherry bomb with to get it to sound like an Italian sports car? Any advise is appreciated. Jim

I would go to a specialist exhaust fitter. They'll make up a full system in stainless for reasonable money.

Some years ago I used https://www.xtremestainless.co.uk/. They were very good. It looks like they are closed for Covid but if pou are in the Staffordhire area worth dropping them an email.
