Dash lights

Any advice much appreciated. .got a fiat punto and just lately when driving the side lights randomly come on also yesterday when driving the engine management light come on and the temperature gauge went straight down it wasn't registering the engine temperature. .could it be bad connection ? I think when the light come on the fan kicked in even though the gauge was well under halfway ..any ideas ?

Re: Dash lights

What year is your Punto? If it's showing the EML then it will have stored a code, so getting the codes read would be a good idea but to me it sounds like potentially a bad earth connection somewhere.

Re: Dash lights

Hi .
Your car is probably a mk2b

Not renowned for wiring failing spectacularly.. but at 15 years in service.. you cannot rule it out.

Have you had the car long?

Any odd things happening before..??

Re: Dash lights

The temp sensor could be wiring or the sensor, the fan will come on as a safety measure if the engine computer doesnít know the engine temp.

The side lights could be a ground fault somewhere, wiring, the relays or the switch. Itís not something that is common on any car and therefore itís not really possible to say exactly why itís happening
