Hi, I am expecting delivery of my new 500L this week

When my. 500L is delivere from the factory what can I expect?

What kind of packaging will my car come in?

Will my car come with any plates fitted before the dealer fit number plates? For example the car shown in pictures with the 500L. plate is this usually used for photos and promotional purposes?

Also, where is the usual place for the book pack, documents and locking wheel key/wheel bolts kit to be kept when delivered by the factory.

I appreciate your comments.

It won't have any plates these don't exist until the car is registered with the DVLA

As for the documents ect these will all be part of a pack with the car that the dealer with sort out before you get it
Locking nuts aren't on the car from the factory and fitted by the dealer I think

Great, thanks for that Chris!

So, the vehicle will come from the factory without any kind of plates?

The book pack with owners manual etc will be put together at the dealership?

What about the keys and remote control fob do you know if that would have been programmed at the factory and will it come with the car from transit to dealership, or do the dealership programme a key etc at pdi stage?

Who is responsible for transporting my car from Portbury t the dealership, will it be transported by the dealership or do Fiat logistics arrange transport to the dealership

As mentioned by others the car will arrive, be given a "Pre Delivery Inspection" (PDI) which checks for things like oil and fluid levels, all keys work, damage, etc. and a full valeting to remove protective films, buffers and paint protection wax.

All you need to do is check any paper work etc, and check car for obvious issues like paint, bodywork, interior scuffs etc. You can skip these checks if you like but it is better you give the new baby a once over yourself before leaving the garage and get them to answer any questions you may have, so make a list if you can before arrival.

One extra thing you can ask about / check on is any included, special optional servicing features. Sometimes to help sales Fiat offer free or reduced servicing for one, two or three years. Worth checking as these offers often require a dealer to register you for them with Fiat. Call me a cynic but it would not surprise me in this competitive market that some dealers may not want to do this as they lose money compared to a normal customer paid service.

Thank you! One other thing I am wondering about is, who will need to register the car with the DVLA will I need to do this, or does the dealership do this? When and how do I get my v5c and logbook?

The best course of action for any information is to contact the dealership you bought the car from, they will be able to tell you any questions you have. Appearing in person would be the best way forward.;)

All new cars are sorted with DVLA and plated up ready to go
The only thing you have to do is get yourself insurance
All the details you need are from the dealer
LUIGI

Great, thank for that! So, will I receive the v5c and log book at the dealership or does it come to my address? Will the dealer sort the tax or do I need to do this once I receive the v5c and log book?

Hi. :)

The car will normally be delivered to the dealer.

It is known by its VIN ( CHASSIS) number

ZA.............

The dealer registers it in your name..and taxes it. The v5C ( historically called the log book) shouls arrive at your regisyeted address in 2 weeks ;)

At the dealers the technician will also plug in to change languages to English..
Zero displayed mileage etc.

Hope the wait isnt too long. ;)

And yes.. giving the dealer a call with 2 working days to go is worthwhile :)

Thanks for all your help. Final question, when I pick up the car will both keys usually be presented to me together on the same keyring?

Exciting times, my car is at Portbury! Which logistics company transports my car I see Fiat operate operate their own logistics transporters in uk I-Fast logistics, is this who will be transporting my car?

So my dealer tells me they no longer carry out PDis, this is done off site at the port. Does anyone know which company carry out these PDis and if it is the uk port where this is done?

No.

The 2nd key will only arrive when you've danced naked around the dealership at precisely three minutes past two on Sunday afternoon whilst singing the hits of 2 Unlimited.

You will then be escorted to a special room and be greeted by a special team of 'key fondlers' and go through the handing over ritual. Learn the special handshake in advance, or you will forever be blighted by single key ownership.
