New factory delivered car

Exciting times, my car is at Portbury! Which logistics company transports my car I see Fiat operate operate their own logistics transporters in uk I-Fast logistics, is this who will be transporting my car?

So my dealer tells me they no longer carry out PDis, this is done off site at the port. Does anyone know which company carry out these PDis and if it is the uk port where this is done?

This is utter nonsense, they may inspect the cars for damage when they get them off the boat, but they are still covered in protective plastics and guards right up till they are delivered to the dealership.

The dealer has to remove all this and inspect the car, make sure things work, usually take it for a short road test, check the fluids etc, they don’t just take it off the transporter and give you the keys, it’s a bit embarrassing if the new owner hits the roof about a big scratch that the dealer hasn’t noticed.

There are a lot of off questions here, very reminiscent of another member on here.

Aye indeed! I kind of hinted before about threads like this..;) As I said then I don't want to burst any bubbles but .....??

No.

The 2nd key will only arrive when you've danced naked around the dealership at precisely three minutes past two on Sunday afternoon whilst singing the hits of 2 Unlimited.

You will then be escorted to a special room and be greeted by a special team of 'key fondlers' and go through the handing over ritual. Learn the special handshake in advance, or you will forever be blighted by single key ownership.

I creased myself when I read this:D At last a man with a sense of humor like myself....

I believe I have seen such a post from yourself possibly about this.

I think the main unanswered question is, of where to put the air freshener when the new car arrives ;)

What can I say, I'm known for getting straight to the point, but apart from the air freshener, it gets complicated, things like when should you use your horn or how to hold the steering wheel, or the difficult choice of how early should I put my wipers on when the rain starts, lots more, but such complications get a bit mind boggling.......:D

Well I think we should mellow down a little. The original poster raised some questions, i suspect because they were totally new to Fiats and Fiat dealerships and post purchase product delivery etc.

And I'll add that some of the OP questions were more in line with a "petrified new parent".

One question led to another and another and so I think these have been answered.

Time to stand down and let the OP enjoy their new arrival and hopefully post back with good news.

Chill out 130,:D a wee bit of humor from time to time will do you the world of good...:) The forum needs this from time to time.;)

I see plenty of FCA transporters travelling eastbound M4 towards London.

I have yet to notice ANY transportation 'packaging'..

No cling film..or padding..

Anybody else seen the FIAT - Alfa shipments with protection?

I have a fiat dealership 300 yards from my house, I can assure you their new car holding area is fully of cars covered with protective bits and bobs, tape on doors and door handle, plastic ad bits of foam on door tops and to protect opening doors.

Rental cars and fleet buyers cars will be done in bulk and sent directly to the companies by fiat. I once worked for a company that would buy lots of 500 vauxhalls at a time and that was a small rental company based only in Norwich.
