At the rate Tesla are going and how the other Big Auto are pretty much ignoring electric cars**, Fiat really need to move into that market ASAP.

Audi now have the eTron costing silly money. It's beaten by the Tesla Model 3 at every level but its not a Tesla. However,, Audi electrics are not available in dealerships alongside the petrol/diesel models and the advertising is "low key" to say the least.

Tesla is leaving a huge gap at the affordable end of the market which Fiat really should be trying it's very hardest to fill. I would like to believe the deafening silence means it's all happening in secret, but apart from the electric Panda concept there has been nothing.

As you probably recall..

Fiat did battery years (decades..) ago.

And pinned the R+D money on hydrogen.

Im convinced its only Government policies that have given batteries the headstart.

Fiat have all of the stuff in the pipeline:mapped out..

But they are 5+ years behind most in their market segments.

The auto industry in general seems to be willfully ignoring Tesla. Many are not even offering what Tesla was up to in 2013. Audi have some capable models (for a price) but they are only advertised via magazine reviews and at Tesla Supercharger points. They are not offered at dealerships probably because buyers would want them over the engine driven cars.

We could end up with Tesla being the new Facebook or Amazon of the car industry cleaning out the competition. It would entirely the fault of Big Auto but we all know what happens when there is no competition in any market.
