I have just purchased this privately and have a grinding/dragging type noise when it goes from 2nd to 3rd gear around 27-35mph I tried it in both manual and automatic and the same happens but not all the time? At first I thought something was loose or dragging but because of the consistency at this speed I'm terrified it's a major gearbox issue? Drives perfect in all other gears and speeds? advice please?

If the noise happens at the gear shift point it could be the synchromesh. The gearbox and clutch are basically the same as a manual system but uses servos to move the gears and clutch.
You will need to consult a Duologic/Selespeed specialist.

To be fair I have no idea which vehicle he is asking about. The old type slush boxes with epicyclic gears simply refused to shift or slipped in the affected gear.
