Hi

My Fiat battery died. While trying to loosen the bolt holding my battery in place I bumped the pipe from the water coolent to the engine outlet. It seems to have broken off.

I would just like to know if the component has a specific name and if its easy to replace?

I don't immediately recognize the engine - it's not quite like my 1.2 FIRE - That small pipe is an expansion return to the coolant reservoir and you've snapped the plastic connector where it joins the thermostat housing (I hate all this use of plastic on modern engines. Engines get hot and plastic gets brittle when it lives in a hot environment) So I suspect you will probably have to buy a new thermostat housing - Doubt if the connector can be bought &/or replaced on it's own. This may be no bad thing as thermostats tend to get tired and not work so well when they get old. You may find a new one gives you a better (hotter) heater and an improvement in fuel consumption due to the engine getting fully up to working temperature.

Your local factor can probably do one at a good price. I like Shop4parts myself (not always the cheapest but everything he's supplied me with has been really good quality.)

OOps! just checked back on your OP! South Africa? Guess shipping might rule out Shop4parts then! - Sorry

Hopefully the engine has not been running with that hose snapped off as there wont be much coolant in the system.

The easy way to find the connection for things like that is to look VERY closely within range of that open pipe end. It will not have moved far from it's correct connection point so should be easy to find.

OP knows where it is, you can see it in the first picture coming out of the thermostat housing ;)
