using higher amp batteries

will it kill my alternator ? place i get mine from is dirt cheep but don't do one the same as ive got mine is 250a 50h, they do one for the jtd but that is iirc 800a 60h will it kill it?

This is an interesting one, I am also curious, I intend to run an inverter in my car which will obvisouly hammer the battery so I won't a more heavy duty beast - but i have concerns like Dave. In my case I could add a second battery and have it on a circtuit which will only charge the 2nd battery when the engine is running - but I have no idea how to do that

just need a split charge relay for that.

dont see it being big issue dave.would have thought the alt would cope.ive fitted bigger batteries in the past on standard alternators though i often upgrade to the alternator of the diesel in the range fro extra amps as a matter of course.

i ended up with a 488a 44h they was only £20 with vat so i got 2, winter offer
