IMO mate it would be worth gettin an independant inspector out to have a look at the bit of road, and the car... if he can find out that it was a mecahincal fault due to some work u had done, u might be in the same situation as sammi and be able to hold the garage responsable.

but good luck with it. stacking a car does really suck, so i kno how u feel

Aww what a shame :( Glad you're okay, thats the main thing.

Re lampost; when my brother wrote off his Evo a couple of weeks ago that was due to a lampost. He didnt have to pay for it... Act dumb, ask them for cctv tapes that it was you. Unless the police arrived and the Sei was still wrapped around it?

sorry to hear the bad news :( But the main thing is you are ok :) the debt will be cleared soon enough with selling bits off the car :) I know you loved the car but as said above your family love you more :) Chin up you'll get yourself a new baby to look after soon

not lying, its a play on words ;)

gutted for you mate, ur car looked well smart in that grey and i cant say ive seen too many if any at all in that colour! looked mint! better than all these yellow/red/black ones :p :D

anyway mate, hope u get things sorted and i shouldnt worry too much about the debt, as end of the day money is just paper, car is just metal but life is u and that cant be replaced

Dunc

It is lying if you know you hit the lampost! It's therefore going to lead to trouble.

"Sorry Mr Policeman, i can't quite remember stabbing this man, can you confirm it to me?"
"But you have blood all over you and you were at the scene standing next to do the dead body"
"errr...any CCTV? Nope? Well then, probably wasn't me"

Shock of the accident may affect his memory ;)

This is OT so wrong but no Lora, if you know something has happened and you say otherwise, it's lying and more specifically, lying to the police. If that goes into a statement you can be in serious trouble. Unless you seriously can't remember what happened then it is breaking the law and poor advice.

I think you've taken it a little too far!

I merely said ask them to prove it was you, if they cant then why should he pay? For all you know the lampost had already been hit and damaged before.

If you hit say a sign and were able to drive off afterwards, you wouldnt notify the council that you'd hit it and wondered if they wanted the money. (You probably would but I'm talking 99% of the population.)

i see wat she is sayin tho... she isnt sayin that u tell them u didnt hit it, u just dont tell them u did!

however.... if u happen to "forget" to tell them when they arrive, and then it comes to light that u did, u could get done for with holding information, or even lying to the police, neither of which would be a good thing.

when dealing with the police... fess up, makes it a lot easier on yourself in the long run (y)

My father was once caought out by the sun and hit a lampost. We asked for the replacement to be moved back, and it was. Similarly, nobody came out of the houses to see if he was OK.

I hope that you can get it all sorted out and that you take some time to get over the shock as well. Glad that you can get some money for another car soon, as once you're used to one, not having one can be really hard. And I can only echo all the previous comments about being glad you're OK, even although your nice Sei isn't. Hope the breaking gets you back some much needed cash.

my dad slightly bent a bus stop sign about 30 years ago, it was only made out of a bit of scaffold poll, he reported it as he a bit like paul, they charged him £150 that was a very lot of money then, but they never did any work to the thing he hit:mad:

I'll second that Dave, my mate hit a lampost about, oh 7 years ago now, they charged him for the (slight) damage, which is still there today. Where does the money go?

Sorry bout your accident mate, but please don't go getting too upset about a couple of £K which in the whole scheme of your hopefully long life will be pretty insignificant.;)
