Alfa and Maserati spin off?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...to-boost-value

This worked with Ferrari - which is now valued more than the whole of FCA. This would release funds that could be used to invest in the likes of Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram. Not sure they'll resurrect Lancia though...

The problem with selling off the family silver is that fiat might be left with not a lot else to sell off and might have. Big detrimental impact on the remaining parts of fiat which no longer have the broad appeal the company currently has, it was wise to sell off Ferrari as it's very much a very high end luxury brand which was being held down by its association to fiat.

Yes I think a technical tie-up with another automaker to reduce costs and improve margins would make more sense. This article here https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ll-auto-dreams
mentions a possible collaboration with VW to develop small SUVs.
