Just heard in the radio that it's rumoured that Great Wall is to buy Fiat/Chrysler although Fiat/Chrysler have not received an offer.

Just wondering what you all think. Would it be a good move or bad move for Fiat?

There's been some discussion of this in another thread, and I guess it depends what GWs intentions would be.
If they plan to bin FPT and use their owne engines, etc it'll be a disaster. Otherwise an injection of cash and enthusiasm might well be the kick up the arse FIAT needs to get some fun back in their line up, and get on the road to electric/hybrid models which they really need to start doing soon or they'll get left behind.

I very much doubt that Great Wall could raise the capital to fund such a buyout. There is far greater likelihood IMO of FCA and Great Wall forming a JV or alliance in the pickup / SUV sector ultimately.

I think that would make more sense for both parties. Or an engine sharing as Fiat used to have with Opel and Suzuki giving economies of scale.
