Why did you buy Fiat?

Cost.. value for money..;)

O.H. had a 127 when we met,
I'd only owned FORD at that point, fiat's were no worse.. and around 50% of the price..
BIG issue when saddled with vast mortgage :)

@35 FIAT's later.. all good, (y)
only one I didn't "get" was the 1st of the JTD's in a marea, great on fuel..but I just didn't love it like all the others.( got an old one now.. it's " just a car.".)

At one point we had 2 x "supermini's" panda and uno .. and needed to shift furniture so we borrowed our old Tipo TD and Tempra SW,
when we arrived at the destination..we had smiles..!!

"German Engineering" - no thanks.:yuck:

That's just one of those marketing terms that doesn't mean anything,

..you know..

Like.. Hellmann's REAL Mayonnaise

Or.. NO ADDED SUGAR

Only fools buy into it, and I say that, because nobody can tell me exactly what it translates to in reality lol

Had an 8k itch to fill when I sold my racing mini because I'd given up on my attempt to become a club racer, the abarth 500 had been out for a year and there was one in a local garage it seemed loyal to buy that and do track days!
Missed him when I sold him for an unbranded estate I needed to cart around elderly people, unfortunately had an incident with said unbranded estate, so that got sold for something smaller....
We all know who makes the best smaller cars! Yes I got a panda!
Never laughed so much on a test drive! It made all the growly noises the abarth did, but without moving anywhere..just wish he was a few cm longer

That's just physics. Pressure = Force/Area. Plus it's a crumple zone...

Made in Germany:

Made in Italy:

Hmm, I know which one I'd go for ;)

Btw,

Heidi Klum, Claudia Schiffer, Sandra bullock.... the latter being a stretch but was born to a German mother and raised in Germany.

Italian girls are too temperamental and unreliable.... like the cars [emoji13]

I seem to recall the girl in the advert pictured slaps him in the face.....

Oh and the actress in that add, Catrinel Menghia is Romanian ;)

Point being, nothing made in Germany is any better due to the fact it's made in Germany.. 'German Engineering' = marketing gimmick.

The old Mercedes of the 80s and 90s, probably some of the best built cars ever made. Same with Volvo's from the same era. Volvos weren't from Germany.

Today's German cars are just as sh*te in many ways as the rest of the over complex crap people are buying.

Fiats are far more fun ;-) regardless of BHP or 'plastic quality'

Having owned Fiats since the 80s I think they've improved relative to other makes. But I agree - the main reason I enjoy driving them is they are fun, enjoyable to own. They also seem to have 'personality' - maybe easier to anthropomorphise than other cars for some reason...

JUST "a look"

there were German "reliability" surveys posted last year on here..,
far more useful..,

one with "warranty claims" as a percentage.. like yours ( probably...)

the other - similar format, but using COST of repair also..

anyway all WAAY:Offtopic:

maybe start / resurrect a "why buy Italian Vehicles over others" thread;)

and HERE let people stick with WHY they got a FIAT..,

Charlie

Yes it did kind of drift in that direction... I didn't start it sir! Honest! [emoji15]

Made in Germany v designed in Germany? Where made not so relevant if the brand is in control of the quality.

Our Pandas were made in Poland, but contain Italian DNA and emotion. Most of the 500s were made there too.

Many BMW 3-series used to come from South Africa, as did Merc C-class.

I have a friend with a Honda Jazz, proudly bearing a plate stating made in China.
The Honda civic of course, is British!
