I have recently purchased a Launch code reader to read my 2010 Doblo. It does the job ok but is there anything out there affordable that will program Fiats?
I fitted a replacement ABS pump unit and although I could clear the ABS fault I have the ESP light on. I Am pretty sure the ESP works from inside the ABS unit and needs programming or even turning off as I believe it was an extra.
It seems the New Doblo is a Commerical and has a different protocol to most cars hence the Launch reader.
Any advice or can anyone on here program fiats?

Thanks Ken

Hi and thanks for the quick reply
It's not Bosch but Ate although the unit it looks pretty much like the Bosch one.
From Fiat a new one is over £1500.00 so searched for months to find one from the same vehicle. In the end got one from Italy. Just out of interest the small engined Doblo has a smaller unit as I bought one and it won't fit.
Original fault was No 6 coil for rear brakes shorted to ground and all lights on.
Now just ESP on. I am thinking the vehicle this was from didn't have this on it or at least turned on as I think it's an extra.

Re: Fiat diagnostics programing

The fault showing on the car and on my Launch tester is ESP

The label on the abs is just a white tag on the motor but on the Ecu part it's a hard stuck black sticker .
If I could figure out how to put pictures on here I woul attach one.
Talking to Multiecuscan as to if it will do this. The dummy program they suggested I try shows only Bosch abs although the jeep with the same engine has the Ate.

If you have changed the unit and its only labelled ABS - it may only be an ABS system and not ESP - your previous unit might of been ABS and ESP, my stilo is this one...

In MES you can scan the can modules to see whats connected, if its connected but not enabled it will show in red, same if its not connected and enabled (i think).

You will probably have to do proxy aligment, before you do - make you sure you change the abs unit setting to ABS, not ABS - ESP, and not VDC.

Then proxy align - see if the code goes away and if the ABS works...

Sorry forgot to ask, is your ABS actually working?

Thanks for the detailed reply.
Yes the ABS works. The lights cycle as they should.
It's been one hell of a job finding a unit anything like mine, there are countless numbers on the unit and all but the very last digit on one line are the same. I don't recall seeing ESP on any of the units. From what I can gather it was an extra you could choose.

It's looking like I will have to take it in somewhere to get programed but can you explain Proxy Alignment it's a term I haven't come across. Are you talking steering angles?

Proxy allgnment..
Using software to ALIGN. the vehicles ECUs so they communicate properly. Often needed when fitting new kit..like a cd player..
But could be any NEW..unrecognised part

Like a new throttle body..or even ABS unit.

MultiECUScan can do this..

If I could figure out how to put PICTURES on here I would attach one.

FAIRLY easy - when you want to reply;

click "advanced reply", then see a "paperclip" icon ( next to a SMILEY)

click on the paperclip - it'll give you a box of 5 blocks,

click on top block ("choose file") then it'll link to your PC's picture section,

look at YOUR OWN PICS .. when you see the one you want ,

move cursor onto it and "double click " on it = that's 2 x quick clicks on the LEFT mouse button.

a file number should appear in the top box ( instead of choose file)

once it's there - click UPLOAD - from the bottom right of that box.

NEARLY DONE

look back at the "paperclip" next to it is a tiny down arrow,
click on the down arrow

you'll see the link number ( in blue) click that , and it will be input into the text thread of your reply

give it a go..,

if it's doesn't work.., let us know in your reply;)
