Hi all
Does anyone fully understand the Fiat system of part numbers.
I need an ABS module for my 2010 Doblo 263.
I can find a used part with the correct number but as well as the main number there are more numbers. I asked if this would fit and the seller thought the other numbers could be to do with the Ecu recognising the unit?
Anyone know for sure.
Talking about part
51816796

Thanks Ken

The abs module will be complete with the ecu so if the part no is the same, it will fit and work but will just need to be proxy aligned with the car which just means synchronising it with the rest of the units on the car

Thank you fir your replies.
The number 51816796 is the large number on the unit. It's make is Ate . A local fiat Commerical dealership gave the part number 0071771495.
Fault code is C1205. Outlet valve coil rear short to ground.
I can find a used Ecu from the same model of Doblo the 263 but the rest of the numbers are different. People are saying with those numbers not the same the Ecu will not talk to the abs unit? It's getting a bit complicated as its looking like a new one is over £1400.00. No way will I spend that.
Do you think I could fit my abs Ecu to a valve block from another unit?.
I am tempted to have a look inside but it means the car is off the road.
I Can find a Doblo 263 abs unit for less than £100.00 from another vehicle.
If anyone works in a fiat dealership would you normally program a new unit when fitting?

Thanks Ken

Where are you in the country? Up until a couple of months ago I was in a dealer for almost 20 years. I can still check part numbers so if you give me the number from yours and the number from the other unit I can check them

No recent updates so I assume all is sorted if not the original poster needs to PM me or burrowsdeano with his vehicle VIN number. It will then be possible to correctly identify the main unit part number together with any pre/supersede numbers.

Many vehicle units come with both vehicle manufacturer and OEM part numbers on the same unit so often searching for numbers can be a bit of a lottery if you do not know hat you are looking at/for.

I can't really add much than what's already been said, but the OEM numbering system is a little confusing for me. When in doubt, I try to find a half-decent car breakers/scrap yard as they usually know about this sort of thing.

you've obviously got some great breakers near you..!!;)

it's always been a minefield for me..,

remember my old Regata,
used the "number for spares" on the vin plate - cambelt was 10 teeth too long,
used the log book detail( engine No.) - , 5 teeth too short,
used the Chassis / VIN No. - 2 teeth too long,

kept that original belt on for the life of the car - @250K miles.
