had a day out to holy island yesterday with my multipla and it was good, nice weather for the time of year.
anyway on the way home we decided to visit bamburgh.
but on the way there we hit a hole in the road at 40MPH that was deep enough to flatten the steel wheel rim to the point all the air rushed out.
this was a really good time to find the spare wheel carrier was playing up.
but all went reasonably well and we got home.
i have repaired the rim with a hammer :)
but what would i have done if it was worse.
is the counsel responsible for damage caused to road users vehicles?

hi, :)bad luck, :(
the council mark ones they are aware of with road marking paint,
did it have a rim of white paint..??

no paint = no payout..as they'll say they were NOT AWARE of it..,

TBH for 1 steel wheel I'd not bother, we had to get 2 x Pirelli tyres and a FIAT alloy a few years ago @£400..,

you need to replace the parts, then send the council a completed claim form and the receipts.., as I say a bit of a run-around..,

Most local councils now have a pothole reporting website page, I usually report anything I see at least twice now and save all the ref numbers in case I have to use them, in theory once you've reported it and they've done nothing within a reasonable timeframe then they are liable.

I used one on the CTC ( cyclists touring club) website - after a recommendation.. it was easy to use..,
but the A-road roundabout in question had the 9" wide a x 3ft long split / hole for another TWO YEARS..!!:bang:

EDDC do tend to fix the bigger potholes quite quickly but the general road surface damage that seems to be everywhere gets left for ages.

going to get the front wheels rebalanced this afternoon if my tyre guy says the rubbers ok then this will be the only cost.
plus a couple of boil wash cycles on the washing machine to clean everyone's underwear
