The reception on my Fiat radio is absolutely awful, to the stage where I can't listen to it anymore as it's just so bad. I think it's got worse since I bought the car last Summer as I'm sure I'd have noticed if it was bad when I bought it. My husband has tried taking the aerial off and screwing it back in again to see if that would sort it, but it's not made any difference. I know I could just listen to CD's or take my iPod out with me, but I actually like to listen to the radio.

Not sure what my next course of action should be. Do I book it into a FIAT garage to ask them to have a look or is this something common with these radios :confused:

hi,
it's not a particularly common complaint:)

the system you have;

basically you've got an outside mount, and a screw in "bee-sting"

a cable that goes from the roof mount -(at rear of car)
down and into the dashboard

then another connection into the actual radio unit

I'd be tempted to get those x 2 cable terminations checked 1st;)

( did you get your clutch / gearbox issue sorted in the end??)

Hi Charlie

Since I posted about the clutch/gearbox issue is seems to have sorted itself out. I just make sure I put my foot very firmly on the brake before I go from N to R or 1st and touch wood it seems to be behaving itself.

I'll phone the garage who did the last service on my car and see what they have to say about the radio, unless it's something that can be done by my husband. He is a mechanic, but more of a mechanical type of one rather than an electronic one, if that makes any sense ;)

I took it to my local Fiat indie and he spent about 20mins fiddling around with the connections and it seems to be fine now which is good. Didn't charge me either, which is even better :D
