Hi Guys,

I'm 20 years old (which is vital for what i'm going to say!) and I've been driving for about 18 months and never had an accident. I had an 2002 Fiat Punto 3dr which I loved so much that I bought a 2008 Grande Punto for pennies. Anyways, I was looking at the 1.4 Grande Punto Evo Sporting caught my eye. Does anyone have one of these and are they quite rare because I struggle to find them on Ebay or Gumtree.

I am saving up for a car (quick car because i'm young) i'm not a boyracer and dont spank my car, I just want a nice fast car to treat myself. I've done quotes for the punto evo and coming back about £100 more than i'm paying now for the year.

my budget would be about £3000-5000

I love Paige (name of my Grande Punto) but 1.2 really feels sluggish when I have friends or down the country roads which i'm surrounded by! (Staffordshire)

Sorry that I've talked for abit!

I bought my Punto Evo Sporting 1.4L 135BHP 2011 with 40K miles on the clock last month for £5000. Its on the higher side of your budget but I love driving my car everyday. Similar to you I owned a 1.2 Grande Punto and was very sluggish.

I would definitely recommend it! You can check out my car on this thread

The Evo is rare. I believe there are only 430 in the UK as opposed to 2000 grande punto sportings. I bought mine literally the day it went up for sale knowing how fast these things sell. Insurance is extremely cheap on them as well for the performance that they gives

That's exactly why I want the same punto as you! my Punto is sluggish, nippy with just me.... but a nice car needs performance! Insurance is cheap too on the evo but it's a real downer that it's rare...

Abarths are available at the top end of your budget and would be my port of call.

Just be patient, another will pop up soon. I got lucky and one popped up at a dealer 30mins away selling just above private price

In all fairness though the Abarths aren't a great deal quicker, you could easily just get a sporting with lower mileage for the price, upgrade the turbo, remap and you're more less at the same if not more BHP

True, but it's not an Abarth..... ?

Yeah but considering if I wanted the Evo abarth, of the same age and mileage you're talking an extra £3000-£4000 for the sake of 35 more BHP, a body kit and seats. Which wasn't worth it to me. I also like the subtle look of the sporting as no one ever expects the car to have any power.

That is very true, I love the abarths but your right the subtle hit of the sporting is nice. Also with a few choice mods your onto a sure fire winner!!

Don't get me wrong id love one! But they're expensive in comparison and I've chased one in my sporting and the abarth was only going slightly quicker. I've had people in BMW 3 series (no idea what engine) get right up my arse then try and overtake and find themselves disappointed when a car pretty much a quarter of the value out accelerates them, it's brilliant.
