Was driving down towards Churchbridge Island Oldbury on Friday (for the benefit of anyone from the West Mids that knows where I mean!) when looming large in the Panda's rear view mirror was a very smart Navy Blue exec saloon. I thought I don't recognise that (in other words it wasn't a Beemer/Audi/Merc etc) I pulled over to let it past and low and behold it was a UK reg 53 plate Lancia Thesis, a diesel I suspect from the exhaust tips and mid range pace it seemed to have.

Anyway got me thinking it's a real shame Lancia isn't in the UK anymore as it was a stunning looking car and turned everyones heads; the rear end in particular was great looking with very thin LED like strips for the indicators...reminded me of the original Maserati 3200 Coupe.

Just a story I thought I's share with you all. Perhaps someone can post a pic of one?

this it?

That's it Dave thanks, not so keen on the front, although it is very distinctive, but like I said nice ass IMO!!

I think you can have it with the Stilo Abarths 5cyl. Although I might be completely wrong on that front?

I can imagine, although I think the Italian Polices' Lambo Gallardo must take the prize as ultimate Cop Car!

They weren't police car... Were cars with a politician in...
Often they use a blue siren because the road traffic in Rome is heavy...
Italians call this cars: "Auto blu"

An old bloke with a rent-a-bride turned up to the Scottish Italian Car Day with one of these, obviously thought he was super important as he didn't stop to pay his ebtrance fee and just carried on to park! That was an extremely long sentence!

ah yes the Thesis is one fine looking car, again i saw loads of them whilst in Rome, i'd personally import one today if i had the money. Sadly not alot of people think that way in Europe and just over 1000 have been sold so far this year, down 50% on last year.

nah mate, you are totally wrong, saw it at bologna motorshow and roads. It is a masterpiece and just oozes class!!!! You have to see it to believe it.

yeah i agree with lalli, if you've seen it in the metal, photos just don't do it justice. Its gorgeous & has real presence

due to lancia sales in europe up 45%[always sold well anyway.see how many lancias in italy!]fiat has decided o relaunch lancia in the UK. this is due to letting alfa go alone.alfa will /have link up with maserati.they will work on some interesting projects.fiat see lancia as their luxury side.the range and future models looks amazing.bring it on! expect sometime 2008. ;)

Well the Ypsilon is a Punto Mk2 underneath, the Musa an Idea. So having stylish Lancia's sharing platforms should be cost effective to produce in RHD, and give a little more choice. I would love to be able to go and buy a lovely Lancia that oozes class and luxury, and is different to the boring boxes on our roads. But I guess the UK market could be quite small, so they'd need to puch in other RHD markets as well.

The Thesis looks great from the back, and would probably grow on me for the front, although I really don't need such a large car!

just wondering where u got this info?? I hope its true, i'd love to be able to buy a new lancia (probably the new Delta?) Obviously a relaunch in ALL RHD markets(where Fiat are present) would need to be done to make this in any way feesable. Although ofcourse the fact Lancia's are based on shared platforms with Fiat great reduces the cost of RHD conversions. One other thing though, they (Fiat Auto) would need to offer "sweetners" to current Fiat/Alfa dealers to take on Lancia, as because of EU legislation any dealer wanting to sell Lancia would have to have a separate showroom, or a part of their current showroom totally dedicated to the brand.

the only thing is when people say Lancia sales in Europe up 45% its sounds great, but considering of the 85000 cars Lancia have sold this year, 70000 of those are in Italy, so the rest of Europe only accounted for 15000 cars, so in effect an increase of 45% isn't actually huge

I too would love to see Lancia back in the UK, but after numerous reports of a comeback I have become resigned to the fact that they will not sell cars in the uk again for at least 10 years!

Fiat will want to secure there future first before making any big relaunching plans!

PS. The thesis is a beautiful car but then im bias!

Im sorry but that is ugly as hell! not sure if its the pics making it look bad but i think it looks :yuck:
I must agree... that is really an ugly car. Reminds me of a Hundai :chin: Generally the Lancias are good looking cars... don't know what went wrong with that one :yuck:

I would love to see Lancia back in the UK as well. Is this 100% definite?

In a word, no. People always say theyre coming back but they never do!
