Hi Sumplug,

I’d give you a hand.

I don’t have a van. Are you sure one is needed? I know it’s a lot heavier than a FIRE block, but I’ve seen one transported in the back on an Uno ;)

Let us know.
PM sent.

i dont see why not. it might be heavyer but if an uno can support 5 people and luggage,,, im sure it cant handle an engine :)
its a big engine though.i think louie and myself will have to measure the old engine up to see how snug a fit it will be!

PM returned :)

Anyone know if my Uno can transport a 16V Tipo block

I've had a CB400N motorbike in the back of a Fiat Uno, well, most of it as the front end was hanging out  Plus when I was in a band years ago I managed to get sooooo much gear into the back of my old Uno (amps/ guitars/ equipment etc.)

No reason why a Tipo 16V block won't go into a Uno. Make sure you protect the boot floor with some pieces of wood first, and secure the engine to stop it moving about when transported.

The biggest difficulty you will have is physically getting the block/ engine into the car. A couple of strong mates and you should be able to lift it up and over the boot lip. Just don't drop it onto your foot whatever you do

Here's a picture of my Uno with a complete 1.0 FIRE engine and gearbox in the back. With all the ancilleries attached it probably weighs about the same as a Tipo 16V engine.

picked up an engine for my mates 200sx the other week in a clio and it was lowered

i take it you found an engine for your tipo now then andy? does that mean you are no longer interested in mine  :D

not sure yet.this engine is lower mileage[a lot],and its not too far away.but all i want is to get my car back running.the time scale is getting critical.

thats very decent of you.this site is proving to me that it has a lot of decent people on here ready to help there fellow fiat enthusiast.may it continue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers Dave – I was extra careful – this has been at the back of my mind since I agreed to help (LOL). It was rather scary seeing the back end of my Uno so low . With hindsight I think it was a bit of a :nutter: thing to have done.

LOL @ Hellcat – I’d best ask Stue to measure up :tempt:
