didn't know where to post this!!!


was driving from tescos to the pub yesterday...heard a clunk...carried on driving as the clunk went away....the noise got worse so i pulled over-couldnt see anything....luckily i was near my house so slowly went to drive home in 1st/2nd gear-then.....my wheel fell off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-i have plates over the wheel bolts so couldnt see that they were loose-the thing is...i had the tyre changed 2 months ago, the garage i took it to swapped the back wheel to the front, don't think they did a good enough job-now i need a new front wing and new brake discs-i was so lucky i wasn't going 70mph on a dual carridge way!!!would of been a write off, body work scrapped!! and i would of probably lost control and died!!!-most ppl said i have a case-don't know how to go about it though!!!?? any ideas?????

yep im fine....just wanted to cry!!!!! luckily i was a few streets away from home, i bought the car from Paul who used to come on this site, he's got a smart car roadster now. i didnt know about that 100 miles thing...great!!!!
then thing is we dont think that the bolts were long enough as they sheard off only 2 threads......they are prob the originals from the standard wheels???? ....but surely they should of told me that the car was unsafe to drive!!??!!, my m8 said contact trading standars...they are phoning me 2moro.

i really hope i can get them to pay to fix my car-i hate not being able to drive!!!!!-new wing...sprayed and fitted and 2 brake discs-tracking may be duff-how much do u think i'm looking at??

2 months is a long time. I doubt very much you'd have a case against the garage. They'd probably just say you should have checked them yourself within that time.

i dont know about that----my m8 spoke to her mechanic friend and he said it obviously hasnt been fitted right-the bolts were only 2 threads in when they are supposed to be in about 6/7 yeh?
the bolts were too short and they didnt tell me i was driving an unsafe car
