Proxi alignment is a process using the 'Examiner' to set up all the electronic control units and Nodes correctly with the body computer.
It makes sure everything is in sync with one another so that they can share all the information on the CAN lines.
If say, you change a control unit, and didn't carry out a proxi alignment, there could be a communication fault between 1 or more control units/ nodes.
For example;
if a abs control unit was changed, the abs sends a reading to the body computer, which then sends the reading to the dash speedo.
If proxi alignment wasn't done then there could be a problem with the body computer recognising the new abs control unit, and might not give a speedo reading at all.

ive got me a uk speck set of clocks, ive just noticed that its got glowplug light, am i going to have trouble getting these to work in a petrol car?

why would you want a glow plug lights working ina petrol car? or are you asking if your gonna have problems with the whole unit? i doubt youll have problems, should be the same set up but a glowplug light added for the diesel versions.

Can you take bulb out Dave or are the LED's? Does everything else work ok?
You can access some clusters through examiner but not sure if you can go much further except check lights/gauges,need to look into this.What year is the car?

i havent picked the car up that i am goimg to fit them to yet
Oh right! Hopefully wont come on then,just have to wait & see
Hopefully you'll be ok Dave - the Marea and Cinq both have lights on the dash which aren't used.

just been thinking, how does it work out mpg? will it think ive got derv in it an say i gett more or less mpg than i realy am? also what is price of this proxy alignment/ how long does it take and will they reset the mileage to about 150 miles for me?

No to mileage, 20 minutes from start to finish (including getting rid of any errors in the systems). It doesnt work out mpg, thats down to body computer and efi ecu.

Mileage can only be increased by examiner, so if the mileage was 30000 on old panel but 20000 on replacement then we could increase it for you but not the other way round.

This might sound odd, Dave - but could you just change the dial legends part over and leave all the rest intact, kms and all?
