Here's one for you; will Proxi Alignment allow new nodes to be added? My bro's just put Connect Nav+ in his car and the mileometer is flashing; our FIAT dealer say that Proximajigging the car won't allow CN+ to be recognised.

How I wish I had an examiner of my own . . .

In every module (or node) there is a inbuilt timer,proxy-alignment 'syncronises' these all,any nodes that are faulty or shouldn't be there (according to the body computer) won't be syncronised.

With only 250 miles on the clock I hope it doesn't need servicing yet! :D

T14086, is there any way of telling the Body Computer that there is a node that needs to by syncronised (Connect Nav+ in this case)?

Thanks

Stilo only has one type of body computer so the body computer will see the connect as an inactive node, if its proxialigned it should then reset itself to see the connect as active.

My local garage have apparently tried to realign it and it failed; they said that each body computer is flashed programmed (EEPROM) at the factory, so now it won't know about CN+.

Another theory which apparently works is that the +12V to the CN+ needs a 10 second delay (this is ignition feed not permanent) so that the CN+ would have booted up fully before the CAN line starts talking to it. Doing this apparently stops the mileage flashing.

Any thoughts anyone? And thanks for the reply NumanR

I am fairly sure there is only one body computer type on Stilo, I needed to check a few months ago for something, my memory isnt very good though so I will double check. I will get back to you.

Ok i was right only one typr of body computer, and another, and another etc.

Ok the truth is pre face lift models there is a choice of 6, post face lift there is a choice of three, the main opions for post facelift are:-

Easy Go, Twin panel Boot, and standard. Connect is not mentioned so it should be possible to proxi align it and see what happens, the b/c should see it and reset it.

I've been told that they all get flashed before delivery, hence the reason that they are ordered to your chassis number, so that it arrives pre-flash programmed with the options your car left the factory with.

However, when Alan Kerr tried to access the menu's about Connect, the Examiner told them to plug in the red cable (?) - they said they're getting one mid-november sometime.

Wish I had an examiner :D

Red cable is for new CAN networks (eobd stage 4...5?),I think you might have to go back on examiner software releases to a earlier disc as there was some communication problems on certain cars/operations.

Do you reckon if I get hold of an examiner disk (and one would suppose the cables too) I can use my laptop? Although getting those two would be easier said than done . . .

So why would the Examiner ask for the red cable on a Stilo? Have the EOBD's been upgraded? Do I know what I'm talking about? :p
