Hi all
I ve got a question cuz I dont know what to think about it.
So. I did mot yesterday everythig was okay. I had 8 advisories notes but nothing to worried about. But the thing is I went today to check mot status online. And what I seen was there was 2 mot status from the same.garage I ve been. One was that it was fail because of the offside stop light not working. And the other one was that it pass. But the.guy from the garage didnt even told me that it.fail because of that and he dont even tell me that it is not working
But the thing is.that the stop light is working. Cuz I checked and from that what I was seen yesterday he was not even checking the lights

I paid 70 pound for the mot
Should I contact them about it or just leavr cuz it ve got mot anyway

That what I think that he should inform me about it, but he didnt.
I was looking what is he doing and he dont even check light.
After he done he said to wait in the car and he's gonna bring the paper to me. I was waiting for about 20 monutes for him and then he said that he put 800 miles less than whats on the clock and he said it pass first timr theres few advisories but nothing to worried about

Sounds a bit shifty, but I guess the important part is that you've got an MOT now. For future reference, MOT should cost no more than about £55. If there is a fail then you should be advised of that before any additional work is carried out. You could take it further if you wanted to.

I'm with Eklipze on this one...the maxium charge for an MOT is £54.85 (only 15p out there :p)

Not only that, IF your car fails and you leave it with them for repair, then only a partial retest is needed...for which there is no fee

Something dodgy there!! How exactly have they charged you on the invoice?

Sorry for late late reply. But i found out why he charge.me that much. Only because apparently my car will not pass first time so he.charge me a bit.more just to let me go without waiting long.
I have spoken to one of my mates at work and they said that I should ask them cuz they now garages which are good and bad so I will knos for next time

The definitive place to understand, dig deeper, etc. is https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/driver-and-vehicle-standards-agency

There are set fees, set standards and requirements. Also details about free of charge retests and fee based retest requirements.

I'm only speculating that you were charged standard MOT fee, failed due to xyz, and then charged a retest fee.

HOWEVER from memory retest fees are time / fault dependent and many retests are/used to be free of charge. To my knowledge if a fault is fixed/rectified within a given time period then a full retest is not required. The vehicle can be represented for specific failed item re-evaluation and no fee is due.

Meanwhile the garage could have charged you £50 for a bulb change and buried the cost in the overall bill.

I can't specifically comment on your case but the link I have provided and whatever bill your garage presented you with will hopefully point you in the right direction.
