Problem is, modern engines are hampered now with emissions regulations.

It's not just the GP engines, ever driven a 207 1.48v? It's frightening.

The Corsa 1.4 90bhp was terrible, really gutless for the power it was meant to produce.

The Fiesta 1.25 in the current shape is terrible, lacking in any useable performance. Whereas the 1.0eco boost is brilliant.

Whereas, the 1.4 105bhp in the Evo Punto was actually a good engine in, performance wise never understand why they dropped it.

I hope you don't mind me saying, but you do sound very fussy, lol!

You can have a remap on every modern engine to enjoy it's hidden power...!!
(That's what I did with my Alfa Romeo GT jtd....no more catalyst, no more EGR etc. etc, and still no problems with mot.....!!!)

No offence to yourself, but I know from your previous posts that your driving experience is very limited to a few cars from what you have said previously, and you seem to have an absolute hatred towards Ford for some reason? I'm fussy because I know how good some cars are and others not.

Any way back on topic - I have only owned the one Fiat. It's full title being a Fiat Grande Punto 1.9 multijet 120 Elegenza 5dr.

I brought the car in 2007, 6 months old with 2000 miles on the clock in Exotica red. The old chap who did the finance at the dealer owned it.

I wasn't looking for a GP, but saw it sat on the forecourt when I was at work most days. I was looking for something to replace my MK1 Focus 2.0 Ghia as it was becoming expensive to run for fuel and tax.

The GP seemed perfect, not much smaller, very well kitted out and I even liked the sandy coloured interior. I wasn't sure though on reliability, that niggled me before I brought the car, but I reckoned it couldn't be that bad anymore especially since it was joint produced with Vauxhall and they are fairly reliable.

Kept the car until 2013 where it had covered over 60 000 miles. It had a full dealer service history and was very well looked after but sadly it turned out to be the Friday afternoon car. It was always faulty, turbo, gear box bearings, wheel bearing, anti roll bar, brake calliper, top mounts, various electrical faults, steering rack, alternators.

Sadly it put me off Fiat. I loved the car when I first got it, however continuing faults made me start to dislike it and realise it's other shortcomings in ride/handling and noise, build.

My replacement car is up to 35k miles now, and nothing has gone wrong or failed in the last 2 years. It's a fantastic car.
