Guys,

Just brought my ulysse back from the garage after having a repair done and the fitter said that it looks like the, and I quote "It looks like your oil intercooler is on its way out, two hoses connected to it are soft, and they're not supposed to be soft".

Now, all I can find and all I know of are turbo or charger inter coolers, are these both the same thing please?

I mean, is an "oil inter cooler, the same thing as a turbo / charger inter cooler", please?

Also where exactly is the oil inter cooler located on the Ulysse, and where are the hoses connect to, from the inter cooler, please?

I have a 2001 Fiat Ulysse 2.0 16v (220 -- RHW) JTD

Many thanks.

Hi,
doesn't sound as if they are too EXPERT..!!,
you'll have an OIL COOLER ( radiator full of oil instead of water, with 2 a black high pressure hoses = FLOW + Return)

normally go to adjacent to oil filter on engine

you'll "probably" also have an intercooler ( an air-cooler) that'll have LARGE diameter tubes carrying air to the turbo.

BOTH of these are normally behind the front bumper ( either side of RAD)
as they need to be in the airflow ( same as cooling radiator).

I hope that helps..,
Charlie

Any idea as to where I can purchase the correct oil cooler and the two, correct hoses, online, for my Ulysse, please Charlie? I have been looking, but with no luck.

I suspect it's the hoses that have broken down with age..,
the cooler itself could well be fine..,

I would go to a Citroen place for a quote, / 2nd opinion
the hoses SHOULD be available separately,

Maybe get a hydraulics place ( hosedoctor / pirtek) to make you some new ones.. = cheapest NEW option,

Thanks Charlie.

I can't even locate it, mate. The engine bay is crowded.

wrong view..!!,
look under the front bumper..
you'll probably see a hint of 3 different " radiators" ,

look on ePER = FF banner for a parts breakdown view,

chances are you only need to drive one wheel onto a kerb, and have a quick look underneath to see what state the 2 oil cooler hoses are in..,

I can't see one anywhere on there mate?

Looking around, it 'appears' that the 'oil cooler' is behind the oil filter (the actual oil filter screws onto it?).

Forgot to add some images...

The center pipe on the the left goes to the top of the (one pipe of two) 'oil cooler' behind the. Oil filter, the othe photos are of the same pipe, very soft, that disappears hehind the fuel filter housing before re-appearing to the leftvof the housing, it then disappears behind more hoses and enters the top of the oil cooler, behind the oil filter.
