I've decide to post my ongoing problem in this section as it didn't get too much response in the Cento tech section.
3 weeks ago, I was travelling down the M1 holding a constant speed of about an indicated 75mph. The little yellow pic of an engine (click here for pic) flashed intermittently at me. It also did it on the return journey. It did it both times about an hour in to my journey. I realised afterward that both times, I switched off my CD player to see if I could hear anything and both times it coincidentally went out at this action. I haven't seen the light on since.

Since then, sometimes under acceleration early in my journey, rather than holding a constant rate of acceleration, it misses the odd beat here and there.
Now I have also found a coincidence. If I start driving with say my headlights and blowers on and perhaps the radio, along with the above, when the auto choke switches off, it struggles to hold any revs at idle and often conks out. It is as though the engine isn't coping with the extra load provided by the alternator. As with the above, this only happens early in the journey too. After around 10-15 mins, it idles fine. Oh, the car also starts smoothly and sits at idle too. It seems to be once I move it at least 1/2 mile and then stop, all the fun starts.
