Hi guys, I'm pretty new to fiats just looking for some help identifying an engine. I can't seem find the engine numbers on any of the list I've found online, numbers are as follows 132 C2 023 this is what's stamped on the square part near the oil filter
Any help appreciated thanks

So the numbers stamped on the block have no reference to what sort of engine it is?

I've got the Lindsay Porter " bible in front of me,:D
covering most 90's into 2004 'ish vehicles,

most engines are stamped toward timing gear..some towards the transmission bell-housing,
your's sounds like neither ,

is the oil filter at the front? spark plugs at rear..!! ,
alloy head..??,

Charlie

pretty sure the smaller FIRE engines are 149A,

but I'm NOT convinced the number they are quoting is Actually the engine type,

the OP has yet to say ;

1, how many cylinders,
2, petrol or Diesel,

we could be guessing for a while

Yeah, I don't recognise the OP's number either, but the first post in that link quotes a similar number in a similar location. The second post even has a photo of the block with areas to check- if it's the same as the OP's, then it's likely to narrow down the search.

:)

My bad I assumed those engine numbers were the identifying marks.
It's a petrol 4 cylinder twin cam alloy head on cast block. Oil filter is at the front on the inlet side of the engine.

Attached is a photo of the cast numbers under the intake manifold
And the stamped numbers near the oil filter.

Can you stand a little further back with camera and get the engine in shot? From those angles I'd hazard a guess that you have a 1600 eight valve from a 128, 130 or 131.

The second photo is the engine number so you should be able to check online. ;)

So what i was trying to get across in the first post I have the engine number and have done an online search, but can't locate an exact match when I do an online search.

Have you tried Googling the cast number on the block?- 132 DB 2A0

They mention that casting number in the thread below, plus the engine number beginning with "132 C2"-

Hope that helps. (y)

Classic Fiat Twincam 4cyl. as fitted from the 60's through the 90's. 70's and 80's were most common. Looks like a 2L (1995cc) as fitted to later cars like 131, 132, Croma, Argenta, Spider 2000, Azzurra, Spidereuropa, Fiat Coupe, etc, as well as other models produced under license elsewhere in the world. Great engines, thus the long production run.
This pre-dates the Fire engines and much of the 90's. Likely a 8v model before 16v was added to the block. Could have come with carb, or FI. They were never fitted to the 128 (even tho they were in Ritmo Abarth ala Lancia Beta and Delta). Not sure about 130, where the V6 would have been common.

Let us know if you haven't figured it out by now or you need additional help with it.

Dave
