Hi friends,

I'm from Turkey and i want to write about Fiat&Tofaş in Turkey.
First of all Tofaş is a local brand who sells Fiat brand in our country over 30 years. They produced cars named as Murat (124), Şahin,Doğan (Regata), Kartal (Regata SW) for long years with Fiat Licence.

The cars at first page named as Albea in Turkey. It's sedan model of Palio (Don't tell me what is palio :) ) It has designed by Turkish engineers for Turkey conditions. It's body high from ground because of our bad roads.
Also have a big baggage. And little engine 1200 cc. You can see too many albea in traffic, espacially as a taxi. Because in our county we pay vehicle tax over motor volume. big motor = big tax :) Also we use the most expensive petrol in the world. 1 lt petrol is nearly 2.2 $. so little motor=little fuel cost :)

if you have any question i'll reply.

loves from Turkey..
see you ...
BARIŞ

We drive a Dutch registered 2000 modelyear Fiat Palio Weekend 1,6-16V for more than 6 years now.
It is made in Turkey by Tofas-Fiat.
It has been very reliable and fast, although maybe a bit thirsty.
On the other hand, we often drive on the German Autobahns with average speeds of 90-100 mls. p/h without any problems!!
It has factory A/C, and we had it lowered 3 cm ( 1,5 inch) and fitted 15 inch 5 spoke alloys.
We just love it, and intend to keep it some more years.

A little note:

Linea, Doblo, Fiorino also manifactured by Tofaş in the name of Fiat and export to world.

Hi neighbor, I live in the first Greek city after the Turkish-Greek borders!!!40 kilometres away..The altea also exist in Greece , and it's quite common.Surprised you guys didn't know it...The awful clio sedan(I think they call it Thalia) is also a well-selling one here. That other FIAT , I've never seen it.Reminds me of the Marea though

hi my friend;
is albea known as altea in Greece?

The other car is Siena. First generation of Albea. These cars are the weak model of Fiat and usually sell low prices than other brands in the same class.

The sedan car of renault is named here symbol. And it like that albea. cheap, weak but economic.
think a little. they are selling about 15000$ in our county, and nearly half of the price is tax. so you can't make a good car with 7500$.

I' sorry for my English.
Bye :)

I have a 1993 Fiorino Pick-Up that's made in Brazil....(y)

Fiat and PSA group have a common project in Turkey.

In our country it is selling as Fiorino with Fiat brand. Exporting as Qubo. And the same car in Peugeot as Bipper, in Citroen as Nemo.

No , it's Albea here too.Confused it with the SEAT...Yeah they are weak indeed!!15000 for the renault???Man Turkey is expensive in cars!!!Your talking about dollars right?not turkish pounds? It's about 11 here..Taxes are **** here also!!But I thought Greece was the most expensive country to buy a car , especially compared with the salaries!!But no..About the ''symbol'' , I hate it!It's kind of obvious that the rear end was designed after the hatchback was produced and it doesn't cope with the rest of the car. They failed!!!

Your English is perfect. If you didn't have the flag , I'd say that you're English..

thanks a lot.

Of course i talk about USD.
Here minimum legal salary is about 400 USD and a clio symbol is 15000-16000 $. if a person whose salary is 400 $, wants ta buy a ugly clio he must work nearly 40 months. if he wants to buy a good car he must work until he has retired. :)

OK, you are revering to the new style Fiorino.
The "old" style, Uno based Fiorino, is still being made in Brazil.
Have a look at www.fiat.com/br and see the new 2010 model "Fiorino Furgao".......
So at this moment there are TWO complete different versions Fiorino being sold new....!

hi guys..

I actually work as a research engineer at TOFAS, and may say some about the Turkish cars... ;)

TOFAS and FIAT has a partnership more than 40 years I suppose. TOFAS quit producing its brand since 2000's and now, only producing in FIAT brand.. Producing ~400.000 vehicles/year, >90% is sold around the world...

Linea was co-designed (TOFAS-FIAT) and tested in TOFAS premises...
The MCV (Fiorino, Qubo, Bipper, Nemo) is designed in, produced (only) by and property of TOFAS, as well as the New Doblo (we are working on it, available in 2010).. (y)

Albea, as well as Palio and all other vehicles are designed by FIAT (not TOFAS, as Baris said), produced in TOFAS (besides other countries) and sold around the world.. As FIAT does not have a secondary cheap brand (like Renault-Dacia or VW-Skoda), those low quality-cheap cars are sold under FIAT brand...

It planned to stop production of these cars, but there is still demand both domestic and worldwide to these cars. Possibly, production will be transferred to Egypt or Russia or China...

Renault also have a factory in Turkey, that is why Renault is popular here.. Clio you see in the picture is 2005/06 Clio Symbol..

All those vehicles (Clio and also Palio/Albea) are cheap (buying and maintanence) and popular as company fleets, don't have any friend using those other than company cars..

i have a mate who used to live in turkey and now lives over here and he was telling me about those clios saloons and the fiats apparently thats all everyone has over there, no one buys hatchbacks he said.

interesting.. maybe 10 years ago, yes, since there was almost no good hatchback sold.. Now, Focus HB, New/Old Fiesta, Corsa, Astra HB, Grande Punto, Getz, Auris, 307/308, 206/207 has really good sales values..

Hey Cannavarro, what are you exactly doing at Tofas?
By calling the Palio a cheap car, you're completely wrong.
It has cost Fiat millions euro's to develop this car, and it is by no means a cheap car in maintenance (I wish it was....).
Anyway, it was in Mk 3 form, car of the year not to long ago in Brazil ( the second large car market in the world...).
Also the Palio has won several championships worldwide in rally racing....not bad for a "cheap" car, right....???

Hi everybody (Merhaba :) )

My friend cannavarro; i'm sure that, when Albea had presented, our newspapers and magazines wrote that Turkish engineers in Turkey designed this car inspired by Fiat siena for our country's condition. Espacially it's boot was wide and also it's body was high from ground.
