Re: Fiat Multijet Wins Engine Of The Year Award

no, 1.9, for ages they only had a 1.9 NA, which they later turboed for the early meganes and scenices before they made the more modern (but actually little better) dti then the decent dcis. Oh and they had a 2.2D and 2.2dT (espace and some lagunas) and ahh i also forgot, 2.5dT as used in the safrane autos....I don't know if that was a Renault engine.

Sold, Fiat must be getting some money on it. But then GM is opening a plant to produce them since they were jointly developed.

So what can the 1.3 MJTD be tuned to?

I cudve sworn they did a 1.7 renault 19 and 21 in 1.7 diesel format!
Renault's 1.7 was a petrol engine. There was a 1.6 diesel in the Super 5, 9, 11, and I think the early Express/Rapid/Extra (all the same). The 1.9 diesel was introduced with the R19 in late 1988 or early 1989. The first turbo came out a couple years later in the R19 with 93 HP. this was an embarassment as the 2.2 turbo in the 21 and 25 was only 88HP. The 2.5 in the Safrane was not a Renault engine and just as well because it was a lot of trouble. I just sold my 99 Clio 1.9 D without turbo (turbo not available that year) with 65 HP. It was rather slow, but I got 201567 miles out of it in 6 years. Hope my Idea 1.9 MJTD does even better!

Yep, the 1.9D in the clio was never quick but it just keeps on going in most examples...

Never knew a 1.6 diesel existed but then again I only guessed the 1.9D was in the R11 and I was only little then

Re: Fiat Multijet Wins Engine Of The Year Award

If Fiat had a good name like BMW you would have to pay a lot more for your car.
I have just bought a Panda Multijet for 7,400 my Metro in 1996 cost 6780 & that included 300 part ex. So far no problems.
