Hi,

I've started a project based on a book called 'crap cars' - in the book the author lists what he thinks are the 50 worst cars ever made. I'm looking to tell the other side of the story and find 50 people who love these cars. I'll then photograph them, the car and find out why they like the car so much.

There are two Fiats on the list, the 126 and the Strada, plus the Seat Marbella - sister car to the old Panda. So I'm looking for somebody who owns one of these and wants to take part.

If you have any questions then feel free to ask.

regards
Gary
P.s I wasn't sure if this belongs here or in the spamalot section - feel free to move it if you want

For most of the cars on the list I've joined a specific group but because there are a couple Fiats (plus a nearly Fiat) I thought I'd try here first. I'll wait a couple days before posting in the other forums.

These aren't the rarest on the list though, some of the cars are down one or two left on the road so finding those has been a challenge.

As has been said, you might be best served by going to the Strada/Ritmo and 126 sections as not everybody visits this section.

Good luck anyway.

thanks, I've already found a 126 but I'll go and post in the strata section.

Hi Gary,

There are Seat Marbella fans (mainly because they are effectively mk1 Panda's) in the classic Panda section if you still need one of those.

I have a Strada (I've overlooked the typo!), but it sort of depends on the editorial values whether I'd want it in a book of crap cars - it had its faults but most definitely isn't a crap car, and was actually very forward thinking for its time (the execution sometimes let it down) - just being honest!

Feel free to pm me with more details if you're still looking for one - plenty of Abarth's around, but not many run of the mill versions (mine's a mk1 65CL 5 door, and you'll see a small pic in the sig strip below).

Hope this helps, Gavin (y)

Hi Gavin,

I'm still looking for a Strada - I'm blaming spell check for the strata typo, definitely looking for a car, not layers of rock :)

I think the original book was written with the intention of laughing at the cars which is certainly not what I'm looking to do. The section on the Strada reads like it was written by somebody who hasn't ever been near one, there is no mention of how it drives or what it's like inside, it just has a dig at British Leyland, puts forward the idea that the Strada was built just to be worse than the Allegro and then complains that it was made by robots. I'm letting those who take part add some of their own notes to the page in the original book for their car.

I want my project to be an honest opinion of the cars from people who love them. I can wait until I have a few written up for you to read before committing to the project if you'd prefer.

I also have a facebook page setup for the project but I can't post a link here, I'll PM you the link.

regards
Gary
