Hei.

Throughout many discussions I find numerous "insert-a-letter-here reg" writings. What is this? Example: "I have a M-reg Uno..."

Stupid question maybe... but I have absolutely no clue.

How do I know what "reg" I've got? Some ID at the car?

Morten.

The letter in question is part of a UK registration plate - it approximately dates the car.

See

http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/drive_plates_history.html

for more than you'd ever want to know about it.

In your example of the "I have a M-reg Uno..."

It might have a plate

M 123 ABC

from the look-up table

M is used from 1 August 1994 to 31 July 1995

so that UNO would be 1994-1995 model..

Thanks, this explained it. Nothing like this in Norway. AA 10000 are the reg. plates here. AA - location in Norway. 10000 - "Escalating numbers" according to number of cars sold in that area (AA) until 99999, then AB 10000. Another area changes the first letter AA to BA. So the AA could date the car, but over a period of many years. Did someone care about this? Hehe, well anyway. Thanks.
