Warning Alarm for Petrol - but no petrol light?!

hi, my Fiat 500 pop is only 6 months old and I was driving today and low fuel warning beeped at me, but my petrol light wasn't on and i still have 3 bars left? Does anyone know why this would happen?

freaked out a bit!

I get the beep on engine start but the light does not come on for a while after. See if you get a Range reading from the trip computer right after it beeps without the light.

If after the beep the light comes on and stays on, you will no longer get a range reading. The problem is that is exactly when you need it the most.

The beep is part of the computer system, same as your trip computer.

The light is controlled by a sensor in your fuel tank attached to the gauge.

Could be a software fault, go on the gauge if that days your fine assuming you've not done many miles. If you've done 300miles and it says 3/4 remaining it'll be the gauge instead..

thanks for your help, i'll mention it to the dealership next time i'm in. i put petrol in just in case and the level did go up and no warning has gone on since!!
