phoned my insurance company this afternoon and told them i have a clifford arrow II alarm thinking this would reduce my premium. i was told that alarms make no difference!

Yeah, only immobilizers make a difference when it comes to insurance

you'd be lucky on immobilisers too, insuance companies are tight.

if you are ever getting an alarm fitted its best to phone your insurer 1st to see if they have an approved list.can pay for itself in the end

insurance sometimes give discounts if the alarmis classed as Category 1 with a valid certificate of proof
