Picked up my Dynamic 16v Punto today.

Car had been washed, looked round car pointed out to salesman that black roof trim was not flush to window on one side, mechanic called over and said it just pushes in which it did , so that was solved.

Got in car and the fuse box thing (right of steering wheel) held up by the two screws was hanging off exactly like my other new Punto 5 yrs ago, so mechanic called over again and had to take two clips out of showroom Punto to use on my car...fixed again.

Dealer then took us two mins down road to put £8 of petrol in car. When we got back asked if we could see under bonnet....car had a packet of silica gel down in the engine & a load of tape and paper round pipes...commented what a wonderful PDI had taken place...he said I'm just a salesman & manager not in today! Car also had zero miles on it when we went out for petrol so no raod test obvioulsy!

Besides that 40 miles later car is so far so good...no problems seen or heard yet!

Did the warrany used to guarantee a free courtesy car for any work over one day in the first two years? As my new book dated 1/1/05 states this...I suppose dealer will still charge insurance. Also Last year Stilo came with 3 years AA, this comes with 1 year.
 
Good old Fiat service! lol. Funny about the fuse box hanging off- my Punto was exactly the same when we picked it up :rolleyes:

The 1 year AA cover put me off buying another Fiat.......If I hadnt have needed in the past it wouldnt bother me as much though.

I have got two cars with Fiat, one now in second year, one in the final stages of third year. When I ring up for service/warranty work, I always request a courtesy car - sometimes have to wait a bit longer, but always get one - the only thing I have to show is driving licence.

It may be down to different dealership policies.

As for AA cover, both mine covered up to 3rd year?! Never knew about the 1 year - another 'quality' FIAT decision (n)

The AA changed from 1/1/05 3 years to one. Most new cars come with 3 these days when I was looking around.

The more I think about yesterday the more unbelievable the service was. My wife pointed out that he never acknowledged her the whole hour! Even though shes the one with the staff discount on the car. I tried to buy mats, touch up paint & a litre of Selenia in parts dept & all out of stock!

He took us through all the operations of car for sake of ticking boxes, but I knew more than him, which with my limited car knowledge is quite hard, he was looking for the front fogs at one point, which aren't on the car. Didn't know about the boot release and as I said before re. PDI hes just the salesman! I'm tempted to complain to dealership head office & Fiat UK, but its a waste of my time writing the letters really, nothing will be done!

Also car likely to be back there when something goes wrong in next few days!! What are other dealers like if you turn up with another dealers new car in say first six months for warranty work, I know they have to do work, but will they be a bit funny as car from elsewhere? Presume as usual it depends on the dealer.....still hopefully it'll be like the Stilo thats only been in garage for 12k service in first 13 months so it can be done!!

I thought dealers liked warranty work - therefore taking it elsewhere should be good for the new dealer.

I bought Stilo second hand, and my dealership had no qualms taking it on.
 
Sad to hear the tale of your new Punto, its a typical tale though. On delivery my Cinq had 2 dents down the side, chipped paint on a wing, damaged windscreen rubber... my Seicento 3 years later had a dent in the tailgate spoiler and as for my Panda... dont go there, what a mess that was. And, the aftersales was atrocious all the time which is why as much as I love Fiats, Im not buying another new one.
