Okay, yes i called people who have fell into the trap of "Panic Buying" the fuel because of the possible strikes. And yes, i know that the union got a outstanding percentage to the poll of who will strike, but really?

Not only is there stupid amounts of people queing up at EVERY petrol station, but they are buying crazy amounts, put it like this.

My Punto averages at 38-45 MPG. so £20 of fuel is going to last me for a decent amount (being as work isn't really that far. 5 - 6 miles max) So when i go to the petrol station yesterday, i was greeted to about, 40 cars all fighting for a place at the pumps, being the gentleman i am, i allowed this woman with her kid infront of me, just because, well, she was a MILF :yum: (y)
Anyways, after she fills up her Range Rover, i roll up and she had filled up with £85 of fuel!

So guys, how much will it take for you guys to fill your tanks and what are your MPG?
It can't be that bad to cause a crisis, right. Right?

So we've known about this strike for over a week, long enough to get yourself ready. I usually put in £10 or £20 tops but I put £36.65 (full to the clicky trigger) in my Cinq last week purely to avoid the panic mobs and I haven't even got down to the 3/4's mark yet. Last night our local Asda garage had a line of traffic going back up the road, through a set of lights with a camera and the local Tesco had security directing cars onto the forcourt, the local Shell had run out of fuel and had cones across the entrance! Cameron's already said that the Army will be stepping in to make deliveries, it's not blockades people, the more you buy the more Osbourne rubs his sweaty little palms together.:bang:

I put some diesel in mine last night, but thanks to all the panic buying petrol driving folk out there, the fuel stations where all out of petrol so not only did I have my pic of the stations but also pick of the pumps, the occasional taxi driver stopping to fill up.

I only put £30 in in my 62mpg 1.3 multijet for how I use it should last me at least a month or two

As for putting £85 in a range rover? My old classic could take over £100 of fuel on a fill up and that was in 2005 so she was probably just topping up. (i think the new ones have a 105litre tank) If its really empty I can squeeze £60 of diesel in either of my puntos

In all honesty I think you need to wake up & smell the petrol. Modern day life is full of selfish cretins end of. Seems to be an England-shire thing as well, no problems in my neck of the woods.:)

Fuel shortage! what fuel shortage? :p

Next to a lit cooker, I sometimes wonder about the human race.

A pub local to me is suggesting that there will be a beer shortage and people should panic buy now. :D

An unfortunate accident or natural selection at its most effective - discuss......

All the clots have emptied the petrol stations round here - fortunately by the time I need any fuel (as I fill up when it's empty, not when the Government need more money) everyone else in the county will have full tanks & all the petrol stations will be empty. With any luck it'll go down in price too if no-one's buying fuel in a couple of week's time

And now for the news..........how stupid they must feel now, another torie cash generating tactic. "Fill your tanks, fill your cans, fill your baths!"

Pretty sure it's not a cash generating scheme as the stored petrol will slowly be used.

Instead it's a play against the unions. If the unions do strike (as was looking likely) they won't have their major bargaining chip.

It is a tactic, just not for the reason you think!
