Take a nice look inside my gearbox!

Well my fiat curse hits again.....wait for it...GEARBox blew up!!!

Yes BLEW UP

I was coming of motoway and hear the gearbox grinding getting louder, as I turnd the corner I felt a big backfire and a decrease in revs , so I pulled over saw a long line of oil behind me, Looked under the car and this is what I saw....






A ****in big chunk of gearbox missing, so off to the scrap yard I go to find a new one

Bonus I can drive my mums 05 Punto

Bloody Punto boxes.

Mine "went" a while ago, not quite as spectacularly as yours though - it just started making a knocking noise and only drove one wheel. Turned out that half of the pinion teeth in the final drive were stripped.

I paid £75 for a 'box from the scrapper's, it's a b***ard of a job to repace the 'box but me and a mate managed the swap in about 4 hours.

You should be able to get engines for 150 so dont pay more than £100.

my box blew up on me 1.6 8v last week just like yours but an coz my box is quite rare i had to pay £425 for a re-con box

is there any reason why your gear box would die like that? like no oil or is it just one of them things that just happens if your unlucky enough

I know a lad near Derby who has one about 85K on clock. Nice drive through Buxton

There was one on a scrappy in Salford in February. The clock had 45K ish.

Yeah, only places my mate knows are in Longsight, which are about £150 last time I was asking

I won’t be back in Manchester till Tuesday as I'm DJing in Brixton that night, then I think I’m off to Kent to look at the Mk1 Uno.

Well I managed to get another 1.1 punto box, from a french punto ( french plates ) with 45k done. Cleanest gearbox ive ever seen. He wanted £125, but as mentiond, I managed to get it down to £100, he left the slave cylinder on it, and the seal where the drive shaft goes in, as ive heard once they are taken out. It's causes leak problems with the seals etc.....

Booked in to be fitted for another £100

That's not bad prices in my book.
