Hi

I have a MK1 Punto 60S 1.2 S reg. 106K Mileage

My MOT is due in Feb, and I know it's going to fail. I definitely need new brakes and the horn has stopped working. I'm absolutely pooping it as to what else is going to be wrong with my poor little car. :( I have also been advised that the head gasket might be going.

Just wanted some advise really, the car isn't worth much more than £300 and is it going to be worth getting in repaired, other than for sentimental reasons or should I just bite the bullet and cry to the Bank of Mum & Dad for a new car??

I had to put some anti freeze in before Christmas, and the whole front of the engine is covered in oil and when I topped up the radiator you can see little specks of oil floating in there too. That's what's lead me to believe that the HG is going, but I may well be very wrong.

I have seen another Punto for sale locally (2000 plate) and I think I might go have a look at it and advertise mine for spares or repairs, he's a brilliant car never had a problem with him, but I feel the need to treat myself to powersteering and ABS!

Powersteering and ABS will only teach you to drive badly. Get your hand dirty and spend £150 on parts and you'll have a car which will probably be as reliable as the "new" one and which won't be prone to expensive PAS/Canbus/ABS problems.

As spares or repairs, your car might be worth £100. With a ticket, 450 - 500.
