Iv just recently bought a Grande Punto 2007 1.4 and im in the process of replacing the original stereo to a Sony aftermarket Head Unit (MEX-BT3800U). I did a bit of homework and found out that i needed an AUTOLEADS PC99-X89 the Sony patch lead to go with it. So i got myself these two cables and a Fascia plate aswell.
As i stand now, iv successfully removed the original stereo and cage, fitted the new fascia plate, new sony cage and then connected all the cables as they should be from the Head Unit to the PC99-X89, Sony patch lead connected to the blue 3.5mm jack, then through to the cars wires at the other end.
The Head Unit seems to work perfectly, radio, cd, AUX etc.... Iv tried saving a radio station then turning off and it still remembers it when its turned back on. But the problem is when i press a button on the steering wheel ( volume or scan ) im getting nothing. The Head Unit was reset beforehand. I thought maybe the Sony patch lead was faulty so i tried another one (sony patch lead from a previous car) but that one didnt change anything either. Iv got no idea whats wrong. I seem to have done everything right according to forums ive read etc... I dont know whats stopping the steering wheel controls working. Please can someone give any advice on the matter. Please try not to use little abbreviations that i wont understand. Cheers
