Good job you know your fiats. After my timing belt tensioner went south taking the belt with it ( My own fault, too tight to shell out for the whole kit when I last changed the belt!) I checked my manual which told me the engine would now be a basket case. Thankfully I recalled someone on the forum saying this wasn't the case and hey presto, car back on road. Also you had handy photos' of the timing markings in the right place whereas the manual had them wrong. Lessons learned-Keep up with scheduled servicing and don't scrimp, it will cost you in the long run (new starter after burning the old one out nursing the car over the busy rushhour junction to a place of safety) and don't rely on everything in hard print being gospel. You've saved me hundreds and helped keep an old punto on the road a little longer.
