My Gran and Grandad have been loyal customers to Fiat ever since ford managed to turn them over with a faulty car.

My Gran and Grandad have received a Motability car ever since my grandad had a triple heard bypass (which unfortunately lead to dementia)

Years ago my gran had ordered a Stilo. Upon the day of collection the car was not ready and not even at the correct Fiat Garage... total let down for first time buyer of Fiat... However stuck loyal and waited and extra 3 weeks without car and without courtesy car. After getting the car, it was great and the only problem being a worn tire.

Fast Forward 3 Years... They remained loyal after having a good time with the Stilo and decided they wanted a 4x4 so ordered the new Sedici... again the car was not ready and prepared for them... After hearing the Manager and Sales Assistants arguing and swearing my grandad walked into the office and told the manager where he can shove the car.

They next chose Toyota which were Incredible, as well as Volvo.

Worst aftercare customer service ever... Sorry Fiat but its ridiculously bad. Me being the car whiz I usually go to all my family servicings and anything to do with cars to back them up

Through the family I have dealt with, Toyota, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Volkswagen, Audi, Vauxhall, Ford, Infiniti, and many more and all I can say is Fiat are cringeworthy...

So the moral of my Rant

DON'T GET A FIAT MOTABILITY CAR!

Yeah It is a con... They have since done that and bought their both dream car... a Red Convertible Sports car, god grandparents nower days!

How is it a con? I've heard its far better value for money? Isn't insurance and everything included other than fuel?

And I agree as a whole Fiat Dealer relations suck bad. I've only exprience one good Fiat dealer in my area and it shut down! (Reg Vardy, Croft road Darlington). The muppets at SG Petch Darlington (the next nearest dealer) are a bunch of sharlatons. I'd rather drive around in a £400 banger than buy another car from them.

they take away all the persons money, restrict the miles and charge a lot if you go over, a lot of places will also charge way other the top for and wear n tear marks on the car when its returned.

its supposed to get them mobile but ends up leaving them so skint they cant go out anyway

My collegue says the complete opposite. He said he'd fail to get a brand new car of that calibre and save money from what he pays on motability. once you factor tyre, brake, wear etc and insurance. They've also put the allowence up to 20,000miles too. Which should be enough for nearly everyone.

Then there's the people with knackered credit ratings. Doesn't matter on motability because they are getting the money direct from inland revenue.

I think it's a bit unfair to say it's a con however like you say it doesn't suit everyone. Perhaps better for people who are on disability and managing to work too?

i don't think so some of the people i know who have tried it it has been the child who had it with 2 working parents they still couldn't afford the extras, 1 got a bill for £750 to repair a scratched panel that came out with t cut.

other stories come from a key worker who's clients also struggle

Its a good idea for Disabled people and does not con them, maybe a better word to say would have been 'fly' I just mean the Car Companies are Fly. They do this as said above, so they get more recent cars with low miles....

No, not at all... Motability Scheme for the public is excellent, but its the car companies who get more out of it than the customer.

At current rates that's £1852.00 for three years in a brand new MOTA and all found including boola's, insurance and service .. ..

Its a measure of our society that collectively we give mobility to those who otherwise would not be able to afford it. It matters for nothing about the 'rip off' dealers, its about those people who otherwise would stuck between four walls for many many years unable to go anywhere other than the many hospital appointments crammed in the back of a smelly extortionately priced taxi for the 50 or so miles to the hospital at £160 a pop round trip. :D
