My son has just bought a lovely little fait bravo but when he brought it home I noticed the airbag warning light on the dash.

Despite switching ingnition of and on it remains constant. Any thought on what the problem is or how I can get it fixed.

witch air bag light is it? the orange one can be turned on an off

I'm afraid it is RED. On the back of your reply the site directed me to several other people who also had problems similar to mine.

Answers range from major expence with Fiat dealer, to simply check wiring. Its freezing at the moment so perhaps I'll wait until tomorow before checking under seats etc.

However if you have a more immediate solution I would be grateful.

Mine is on because I've changed seats, but I have been told by the fiat garage it will fail MOT is this true?

if it orange the switch is in tha pas. glove box but if it is red it neads to go on fiat comp. at any dealer most of the time on that mod. it is is a resitor fitted at the pas air bag when no air bag fitted or because the battery volts have been low this will clear but some times it is a real and only can be diag. by correct comp.

I phoned the DSA about the airbag thing, a mates girlfriend bought a car and both the airbags had been used, car had been in a big accident but she forked out £3000 for it anyways, I dunno go figure but when i phoned they said that if a cars airbags dont work or have been used the car will NOT fail an MOT because Airbags are not mandatory.

Ive Fixed airbag warning light. How?

took speedo dash out, four screws hold outer casing, 4 screws took out clocks,
then unplugged electrics
them took off black casing, 6 clips
then taped black tape over place where light shows through, hey presto cant see red light when it all goes back togerther.

Cant take bulb out as it it soldered in.

Just for reference, your car will not fail the MOT if the light is on. My light came on the day after I bought my Brava and its been through three MOTs with the light on and no problem.

The reason for the light being on remains a mystery, I took it to a specialist and they thought it was something to do with the ECU. In any case, Im not too bothered.

Might just mean that if you do decide to crash one day.. I dunno one of them spur of the moment things, that your airbag might not work.

make sure you buckle up.

Hi have been reading what u have all said about airbag light mine is on constantly and car was due MOT took it to garage and the failed it because light was on told them it was passengers side air bag causing the problems and you don't need this they as I cant prove it's the pas side cause problems and not the drivers they couldn't pass it as drivers side must be working correctly. Guy at garage said if I can turn it off he will pass the car is there any other way to turn it off without pulling dash apart

Use MultiECU Scan,
to diagnose the fault.. then you'll know exactly where the fault lies,

it was the Pass airbag isolator switch with mine, ( panda)
MES located it..,
I put in used switch form scrapyard, all sorted,
MES , then cleared all the sored fault codes,

Where are you based.. and what vehicle,

did they try and cancel the error message..??,

can be as simple as low battery ( below 9V on start-up),
or sliding pass seat around can tug at wiring connections,

Tried moving the set about and checked battery all fine
