I've read about the place about making sure garage updates your software before you take ownership of the car.

Quesions are:

1.)How do they do the software update? (Curiosity)
2.) How can I check that they have done the software update?
3.) Does it make a big difference?

Thanks in advance

Fiat / Alfa / Abarth and Lancia run a system called SIGI and the Web version called eSIGI.

This is a database that holds all car details and all campaigns/recalls/problems for every model.

All new cars should have all current corrective action appleid to the car before delivery and during the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection).

Ask your dealer to show you your vehicle SIGI data. There is nothing secret and should be willing to show you the data.

As for big difference......pass. It Fiat call for an update then you basically have to trust them that it is required and worthwhile. It is costing them money to do.

Ok thanks very much. So I'll just ask to see the SIGI report. (pronounced si-gee? or S-I-G-I?) Don't want to sound like a tit. Haaaa!

On there what do I look for to tell that it is up to date?

Thanks

SIGI is vehicle build details (options/paint codes) and recalls only, software updates are done by software version numbers or by scanning the module(s) for a later software version.

Thanks T14086

Are you saying that software updates to ECU, ABS, Airbag etc. covered by a recall or campaign number are not recorded on SIGI ?

Seems very odd and dangerous if they are not.
