Hi all

Just picked up an 02 Punto 1.2 8v, 51k, full service history and 1 owner from new, what confuses me is that the City light is illuminated on the dash but I dont have a City button!? I dont have a user manual but I am told its the button furthest left of the four above the hazard switch, on mine its just the original blanking cap?

Can someone help?

Right
The Pannel From the Left goes

City - Rear Window Demist - Left Window switch - Inbetween and lower is the Red Hazards Switch - The Right Window switch - Rear Fog - Front Fogs (if you have front fogs)

The fact its blank is weird? All Punto's have the City Button (mk2 that is!)

Give the Far Left Button a push - the City Logo Might have worn off

Its not an import, and the button cannot be pressed its just the standard blanking cap.
How are these caps removed to see if theres anything behind it?

Mind if i ask how you know its not an import ?

I had a HPI check on it and that listed an the date of registration in uk and lists 'Export' No, which I took to mean it wasn't imported into the UK? Maybe I have read that wrong

6 screws...couldn't be easier!

I may have a crack at that tomorrow then, have seen a used, good nick, switch bank on ebay for 12 quid, would it be easier to replace the switch bank? (presuming the button feature is behind the cap) how would I get a button to fit apart from the scrap yard?

thats what im starting to think as well

get a £10 Switch Off Ebay - remove old- fit New - HEY PRESTO! :)

Presuming the feature is actually there behind the cap, would the 'city' light on the dash mean the feature IS available?

city switches of with the engine doesn't it? so unless the blank button is keeping it constantly pressed in then i doubt its been replaced

does the actual feature of the button work? super light steering?

The city steering stays on when the car is turned off, or it does in mine anyway.
I think the button has been replaced with a blank instead because didnt all mk2s come with city steering?

Well - pop the Steering cowling off
and if you see a EPS ECU - a EPS Motor and Lots of other bits that are a power-steering setup - i'd be happy to say yes

It tkaes 5 mins to have a look - If you just have cables and No motor - i'd be shocked!
