Hi
I own a Fiat Grande Punto 56reg petrol 1.3 active only 18k on clock.
It won't start from cold - takes 6 or 7 attempts.
Appears to be a common fault, Fiat are not rectifying.
Took it to an idependent garage - they changed the temperature sensor £80 - didn't fix the problem.
Took it to a Fiat dealer - charged £72 just to diagnose problem -
THE PROBLEM - Injection Control Unit - Part cost £413.51, labour £144 TOTAL £557.51
Total Total Bill with earlier diagnosis £80 + £72 +£557.51 = £709.51 for a car with hardly any miles on clock.
Fiat Technician new the fault straight away (dealt with it numerous times before).
Predominantly occurs on 56 models, 2007+ models have had upgraded software on fuel control unit.
Solution - DON'T TOUCH FIAT WITH A BARGE POLE - look nice but seriously lack quality and annoying that Fiat multi billion pound company will profit from the shoody parts they fitted in the first place, and won't recall cars.
Fiat will lose in the long run - I would never buy one again - loss to Fiat - a few thousand pound, if I convince family, friends, work colleagues not to buy one BONUS!

Surely this should have been rectified at a service? It's a software update, after all. Looks like the previous owner didn't care much for the car.

Did it have any service history at all?

Did you not get buy a warranty with it? :(

Your car is brand new compared to my 1998 Brava 1.2 SX which easily starts from cold first time round. How come your Grande Punto has these problems? Better check your warranty card.
